Guest guest
OMG, are you nursing? I hate to say that, but borrelia is proved to be living in breast milk. Many mothers swear their kids got lyme this way or intrauterine. I nursed my child, but if I had lyme then, or had suspicions of lyme, I wouldn't have nursed. I would have stopped. 100% sure. Borrelia loves the intestines. Well, sorry for the bad post. I hate to write these kind of posts. But is your neck just a bit stiff or is it VERY STIFF? A bit stiff can be anything. Very stiff could be a strong indication of lyme either in your neck muscles or already somewhere in the nervous system. I had my first clue I had lyme with my stiff neck. It was very hard. You're still newly bitten, maybe a standard Western blot can show something? You got to wait 6 weeks after tick bite though. If you have the budget, go for the Igenex directly. My first symptoms were a bit like yours, then new symptoms arose very fast, one after the other, like fatigue, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, difficulty falling asleep, air hunger, then joint pains slowly started. Every one is though different. You're in a vulnerable situation, gave birth recently ?, lack of sleep due to nursing, etc. I would take some doxy as emergency, for at least a month to see how you react, but babies cannot take doxy, so you will have to stop breast feeding. Amoxy in my opinion does too little to help acute lyme and co- infections, as it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier and it gets NONE of the co-infections that I know. Kids can take amoxy though. While you're taking doxy, you could read more about this disease and various treatments, and then decide what to do after. But I wouldn't risk leaving the bacteria invade your body (just in case), as one can live in hell after, for very long. Maybe you could start with amoxy while you try giving the bottle to your baby? Then shift to doxy. I lived in hell with lyme and having to take care of a small child. Small children need our attention, and getting VERY sick then is the worst of all. Don't think of it as a flu, that goes out after a week. Lyme may take months, very often years to get rid of. I'm just painting here the worst scenario, I sincerely HOPE it won't be your case. I'm doing that so that you move and get some treatment soon, so that you don't become chronic like all of us. Buhner recommends a month treatment of antibiotic for acute lyme. The ILADS recommends at least 6 weeks. I am not sure these preventive treatments do help with the increasing number of coinfections, but at least, that's what is considered 'standard'. Wishing you good luck, Selma ------------- > > I posted in an introduction in another post although I don't see it yet. > > Anyhow, I got bit by a tick a month ago. Guest guest
Thanks for the scare. My neck is just about as sore as it usually gets from nursing. It's really the " weird " out of body feeling that is new. However, I felt real shaky at one point today & tested my blood sugar & it was 55. Not sure what is up with that. My doc did the usual tests. Igg & Igm & parasites were all negative. Western blot is not in yet. I'm going to try & get my blood drawn for Igenex on Monday. Guest guest
yes, it sounds like lyme, potentially. Could be a coinfection with the being out of breath. Get to a LLMD and get an Igenex test if you can't convince the doctors otherwise. ________________________________ From: jchabot <jchabot@...> Sent: Thu, February 17, 2011 6:06:21 AM Subject: [ ] does this sound like lyme? Hi everyone, I have a question for all of you. As you know I have a 9 yr old with lyme, that went undiagnosed for several years before we found out. I have a 14 yr old and I'm suspecting she may have it as well. these are her symptoms: Crying all the time agitated and extremely moody, rude says she can't concentrate or do anything, and is not doing her homework or schoolwork(grades went from all B's to D's and F's) sleeping in class and always tired sore and weak- cheerleader that can no longer do backhandsprings, etc says she is always cold and out of breath-worse when she wakes in the morning nauseaus all the time headaches I just know if I bring her to her regular doctor they are not going to test her for lyme because she has no rash or bite.It took years for me to convince them to test my son. He never had the bullseye rash either thanks for any input Hugs judy
Guest guest
Hi Natasha,  Thank you for replying. Just as I expected, I called her regular doctor to schedule an appt, and they told me it sounds like depression. (this is what they told me about my son until he went to DR.J. They said it was ocd , depression and anxiety) I don't know what I'm going to do with her in the meantime. It has gotten really bad over the past few weeks. Seems like she is getting worse by the day  Does anyone know if the LLMD's give you a break on the payments if you have two? Guest guest
Definitely, Lymes affects many neurologically and it changes your hormones too. Not to mention her going through puberty! I was born with Lymes and it pretty much lay dormant in me until puberty! Then my symptoms came in abundance like hers is doing. I think the rise and fluctuating hormones stirs up the spirochetes and they start to really show symptoms with they are angry or threatened by immunity and of course antibiotics! Also, check her thyroid making her tired. Spirochetes like to attack the Hypothymus and Thyroid. Pretty much any hormone producing gland. That's why they get screwed up. I would flood her body with probiotics while your waiting for test results. I don't think you need to see the doctor before you test her. And that way it saves a lot of time and you have the results when you get there. All you SHOULD have to do is call and ask for the IGENX test kit to be sent to you and you pay them directly for the test anyway, you just need to have the doctors consent and their info to have the results sent to them. And if you have an appt scheduled they should be ok with that. I know some of the llmd's will do this. Guest guest
it helps to have a course of abx before the igenex tests....they say it brings out the antibodies back into the blood........also I have heard if a girl is at the start of her menses meaning the first few days of the month that could help also to have more accurate test........... Guest guest
O geez, Diane, I forgot about that! My doctor called it in for me. I heard some doctors weren't doing that anymore but I don't feel the test would be accurate without abx either. If she has to wait months before an appt. I bet you could find a local GP that would at least give you a pres. just for the test. Even if they think it's hogwash. You would need to know the proper doseage and what they are using nowadays to wake the buggers up for the test. Only an llmd would know that or someone on this forum. but it also needs to be for her age and weight. A GP could call your llmd and ask! Maybe they'll learn something. Guest guest
Hi Judy, My philosophy is that knowing everything we know about Lyme - why not assume Lyme first and work backwards. After I was diagnosed with Lyme I realized my then 12yo had it because all of her symptoms were similar to mine including the nausea and headaches. I since just assume that the symptoms my children have are Lyme first and work backwards. Unfortunately, my 10 yo is positive. Her symptoms sounded more like your daughters but she also has OCD and panic attacks. We just found out my husband is positive too! UGH. ... So, out of 6 of us 4 definitely have Lyme & Bartonella. Watching the other 2. Best wishes to you! It's such an overwhelming feeling to think that one more child may have this dreaded disease! Guest guest
She does sound like she could have it. Here are a couple of things that might help her feel better until you can get her diagnosed and treated: Have her vitamin D levels checked as Lyme eats vitamin D and that could be an indicator that she has it, and also help her feel much better if you get her on sufficient doses. Could she have reflux? Lyme messes up your enzymes and ability to digest food and all sort of GI issues. If zantac takes away her trouble breathing, then it could be GERD causing that symptom. I think air hunger can be co-infections also (Babs?). Hot baths with Epsom salts, apple cider vinegar, and lavendar oil might help her relax, detox, and feel more mobile again. Guest guest
Thank you for all of your repsonses. I am going to get her tested for anemia, (which she tends to be) than get her tested by the IGENEX lab.She has an appt at her reg doctor on Mon evening. One more thing, She has always had " issues " of some sort that would come and go. This did not come on suddenly. It is just getting worse. I have read where some people have symptoms like vomitting and fatigue only, and they have lyme. (It's all just so confusing!!) Guest guest
Suzanne, My GP still does not believe my son has lyme, becasue the local lab's ELISA test was positive, but the western blot was negative, and my son had several documented tic bites and all the classic symptoms besides the bullseye rash Hugs Judy > > > Hi everyone, > > I have a question for all of you.
