Pat or anyone. I want to know if any of you all have

came across something for pain that is OTC. I am in a

catch 22 situation. Where my pain is bad because of

lack of sleep and the only way I have to keep some of

it at bay is to sleep. But, I can't sleep because of

the pain. I also have Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid

(spelling?) Arthritis...Thanks, Connie

Hi again, the reason I said hide and cry was because

it gave my supervisor and others, a thrill if I would

cry. They also terminated me in more ways than one. I

have no Dr to prescribe something, Thanks, Connie

I am happy for you Pat, your supervisor sounds like a

good person. I have been trying to get in a Study.

Hi Connie:

I can only say what has worked for me, I use a drug called Ultram 50 to

100 mg a day it's not OTC but I'm sure your Doctor would prescribe it, if you

stick to around 100 mg a day it's supposed to be very liver friendly. Ultram

is a good pain killer, and also works as an antidepressant.

Good luck, & take care,

Les

hmm well... have you tried glucosamine chondroitin (sorry can't spell it),

suppose to help rebuild cartilage. Anti-inflammatories are the only things i

can think of for joint pain - aleve, ketoprofen, ibuprofen, aspirin etc. To

sleep maybe some tylenol pm or melatonin or antihistimine to help sleep. My

doc also gives me skelaxin and Lodine

Dear Connie,

The only things I can think of OTC to help you

fall asleep is either Tylenol PM, or just an

antihistamine. (The ingredient in Tylenol PM that

makes you drowsy is an antihistamine.) Melatonin also

helps some people sleep. You sure need to get a new

doctor!!

Good Luck,

Claudine

I do need to get a Dr, I am still trying....I got some

papers today from GA DHR to fill out because they are

reviewing my Social Security appeal....They are about

my daily activities and more on my work history...I

told them my work history so I am not real sure what

they want I guess I will just wing it... Someone gave

me a bunch of HYDOXYZINE HCL 25 MG I am hoping they

will work they are a antihistimine...I have the 100 mg

Amitriptylimine but I need to quit taking them because

they really do not work to well and the rash that my

former Gi said was from my liver is worse and I

attribute it to then because after reading side

effects it mentions jaundice etc......

Connie-

Have you tried Alleve? You can take 6 pills daily. That puts you at the

prescription dosage. You can get generic brand too so it will be somewhat

cheaper. In my opinion, this stuff about anti-inflammatories being hard on

the liver is highly over-rated! Yes, they may be another thing that the

liver has to work to get from the body, but they also cut down on the

inflammation of the liver itself from the HCV. And to live in constant pain

is much more detrimental to your health than the effects of the

anti-inflammatories on the liver. Also some people with RA respond very

well to ginger-it is an anti-iflammatory also besides helping with

nausea-and its am inexpensive supplement from Vitamin Shoppe. I also take

it, although not for the anti-inflammatory properties-I use it to help thin

the blood for my cryo and for the nausea that I get from this lousy disease.

Malic acid/magnesium combo also will help with the muscle pain of fibro. I

rely on these three for my pain relief. Hopefully this might help.

Thanks Gail I will try these. But I am a bit

concerned

about the Ginger. I have a clotting time disorder

called ITP, mine is congenital. It causes the body

somehow or another to not produce enough Platelets.

I was refused surgery on my hands because of bleeding

time last November. They said the Platelets were not

really at a Bad level (I was also told the blood maybe

had a clump of platelets in the sample being tested,

so that would make the level appear ok, this was by a

SS Dr that SSA sent me too). But, there seemed to be

something having an aspirin type effect on my blood.

I was referred to a Hematologist, I was unable to go.

Thanks again Gail, the suggestions seem to be good

ones and I have the Magnesium one already, Connie

PS do you know anything that thickens blood?

Connie, with your ITP and clotting problems you should

not take Alleve, or any other NSAID either. All of

them can make your bleeding problem worse.
