Guest guest Posted September 25, 2010 Report Share Posted September 25, 2010 Orientation Programme on HIV Positive Prevention Family Planning Association of India Panchkula Branch in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club Panchkula conducted an Orientation Programme on HIV Positive Prevention for MSM & HIV Positive people on 22nd September 2010. The programme aimed to educate the participants on how to protect their sexual and reproductive health, how to avoid sexual transmitted diseases and how to reduce the risk of HIV virus. Mr. Manoj Kumar Branch Manager gave a warm welcome to the participants. He said that Nutritious diet and active involvement of people living with HIV in identifying their own prevention & needs, is key to the success of positive prevention interventions. He also put light on the services provided by the Branch. Mrs. Veena Monga, President FPA India Panchkula Branch inaugurated the program. She told that the Branch has created two self help group one for making artificial jewelry and second for making fancy candles. She stressed on independence of HIV Positive. The income is divided between them according to their labor. The MSM remain busy in making fancy candles or artificial jewelry. They found minim time for sexual activities. Their goal was towards independence. Mrs. Meena Vij, funder President of Positive People networks Chandigarh told that I have been HIV Positive for the last 15 years. I am leading happy life because I take regular nutritious diet; medicines prescribed for me with a positive thinking. She told that you should also have the same. She said that our NGO doing referral services. We made efforts to get the ration card ready of all the HIV Positive persons. Mrs. Anjana Sabbarwal President, Inner Wheel Panchkula spoke on nutritious diet to HIV Positive persons. She said that you should take season fruits and vegetables regularly and prescribed medicines regularly to keep you health well. You should take multivitamins. The multivitamins & iron tablets were distributed free among HIV positive persons by the President & members of Inner Wheel Club Panchkula. Dr. Avinish Jolly, Advocate spoke on the rights of HIV Positive persons. He told that every HIV Positive should be empowered with knowledge of their rights. He further described IPC 377. He told that HIV Positive persons have the right to live with respect in the society, they have the right to have treatment without any discrimination, and they have the right to education, employment.
