NEWBIE looking for answers....Unsure if my son has recovered

Hi I am new to this group. I have a 12 yo son who was diagnosed w/

lyme in Jan 06. In June 05 he had a fever and fatigue. The symptoms

started the week before we were to leave on vacation. The doctors said

it was viral but since we'd be out of state started him on Amoxicylin.

While on vacation he got a body rash which we thought was from the

change in laundry soap and it disappeared in a couple of days(after

changing soap). Over the rest of the summer he was very tired and

since it was a hot summer we figured it was due to that. He also was a

little disoriented a couple of times but at the time I thought it was

also due to heat and a busy day at camp. By Jan o6 his

knees became painful and swelled. At this point the Pediatrician said

it was due to bad shoes. But it swelled more and they finally did

blood work which determined it was lyme. After three months of oral

antibiotics the symptoms disappeared and the specialist said he was

cured. That was 2 years ago. But since then he seems more tired and

weak. He has headaches , neck aches and backaches. In June of this

year we were on vacation in VA Beach and he became terribly ill. He

had a high fever (105) and severe headache and stomach pain. We

brought him to the hospital at which point they determined he had a

bacterial infection caused by a rare gram negative rod bateria. He was

treated on iv antibiotics for his week hospital stay. All doctors

assured us that this was not related to the prior lyme infection. It

took him all summer to get his energy back. Now he is good some days

not so good others as far as fatigue. He complains every other week

about neck pain. He is also going to be 13 in May and having a 16 and

15 yo I know that hormones can make teens tired too.

However, I am not convinced that this isn't still lyme in his system.

But doctors say it goes away after treatment. I really don't know

where to go from here. Does anyone out there have any info on the

symptoms, cures, aftermath that they could share with me? Or does

anyone know of an expert I can bring him to in the New York

City/Rockland/Westchester area.
