Guest guest
Hi, Is this group still active? Is there another place where you would recommend I go to find info on children and Lyme. Mine are very young (age 2 and 3) and I would love to find other parents who treated their young kids with Lyme and co-infections so exchange info and questions. Also, I am looking for success stories of early treatment of lyme. Do you know any? Thanks so much, Beth beth@...
Guest guest
hi beth, I don't know where you are, but the california lyme group is very very active (its a group).....its not kid focused but there are some very helpful and knowledgeable folks there. by the way, my daughter has been on mepron since July, we were treating lyme for a few years but just got a positive for WA-1 babesia (westcoast kind) and are on zithromax as well. I'm not sure what side effects you are concerned with, so far, we have none from the mepron but I have to say that the look of it is kind of freaky (yellow paint), it is also extremely expensive (our insurance covers it). Mepron is also used as a prophylactic drug to prevent pneumonia in people who are immunosuppressed so it is used by some people for long periods of time. My daughter is 6 by the way. michelle p.s. as far as early treatment, my son got a bull's eye rash when he was 3 while we were camping in the santa barbara mts and we treated with a monthof augmentin right away and now he is fine. Guest guest
Hello Beth, I am sorry to hear about your kids, and I think I know how you feel. I want you to know that our daughter was exposed, we believe, a year before the worst of the symptoms showed up. She was 8 when things got really bad. We treated her with antibiotics for 2 years (just stopped as a matter of fact). Thankfully she is doing really well, having her 11th birthday tomorrow. Mepron in my experience had a lot to do with her recovery and Dr. J has shared with me several success stories about incredible recoveries of kids that were very sick and responded well to treatment. Some of them quite young. Do not lose hope on full recovery. ________________________________ From: Beth Freishtat <beth@...> Sent: Saturday, November 22, 2008 11:34:47 PM Subject: [ ] Can I ask you a question?
