Guest guest
I remember reading somewhere that false positives rarely happen at IGeneX and that false negatives were more common if they happen at all. IgeneX is specialized and has quality control measures in place. They have been so helpful on the phone with any of my questions. You could just call them and find out. They may even have a print out available at their website. Kari > > Can there be false positives on the IgM Igenex test? Guest guest
Yes, I believe that there can be. IGeneX even states on the IGM results page that other infections such as EBV or HSV can cause a false positive result. Singleton lists numerous other infections in his book that can cause a false positive. See the section " Acute and Chronic Viral Infections " in the excerpt at the following link... http://www.lymebook.com/chronic-lyme-testing-and-diagnosis I think that's why it's important to get a thorough diagnostic work-up to be sure you know what you are dealing with.
