This just goes to show that all of us can positively respond to some drugs while

others find the same drug completely ineffective - I added Lyrica to my Humira

and MTX mix and it had zero effect on me.(The same thing happened with Arava.) I

guess it proves that there are just so many different remedies for this disease,

it would literally take you years to go through them all. But, now that doctors

are getting more experience with biologics chances have gotten greater that they

can better pinpoint your needs from the very beginning. Have faith, and try to

be patient.

I will run adipex by my rheumatologist. The PsA combined with my Lumbar back

issues leave me fatigued and in Bed alot of the time. I have costochondritis

too. When my rheumatologist did my last exam and pressed on my ribs I literally

jumped up. I have pain down the breastbone and on each side of my ribs right

where the bottom of your bra comes across my chest. There are actually bumps

there. I thought it was just fat because I have gained weight. Now when I press

there it is sore. It is really wild. Waiting for my increased dosage of Lyrica

to help. Lyrica works for my neuropathy and I can not function without it.

Dear Beth, I have costochondritis as well and it is and can be just miserable.

I've found that Novicane patches work pretty well, at least on the worst spots.

I also have Fibromyalgia and the bumps you describe sound a lot like Fibro.

Have you ever been diagnosed with that as well? Fibro bumps hurt like crazy to

press on if that's any help. Not that i want to give you more bad news. I also

have horrible neuropathy in my feet, hands and my face, that is a type called

erythromelalgia. it causes my skin to turn bright red and burn like it's under

the broiler at times. I can't take Lyrica due to how it causes my feet and

hands to swell, but I'd give anything to find a drug to stop the burning pain.

It's strange how many things we all have in common when you read other emails.

I think there is a lot about PA that the doctors just don't know yet. I'm lucky

because my rheumy works at a teaching university and half of his patient load

have PA, so he is really up to date on the different types and how they affect

your body. He tells me something new almost everytime I see him. It took 7

doctors before I found him and he knew in 20 minutes exactly what I had. The

problem is I don't respond well to some of the meds and since it took so long to

get a correct diagnoisis there is a lot of damage to my joints.

ON the lumbar back issue, I've read where water is really important since our

disc dry out with age and my recliner and gel ice packs work the best for me. I

think PA always ends up in the spine if it advances enough or just starts there.

Again the novicane patches really can help, and they aren't addicting or

narcotic. You just have to wear them 12 hours on and 12 hours off. I hope they

can help you.

Sincerely, Fran in Florida
