Guest guest
I don't know the answer to your specific question BUT I can tell you that my younger daughter was doing super great and then the Bart kicked in again (I can tell because new streaks in previously untouched places on her body) and she tanked. We ramped up the psych meds and those seem to be helping her to stabilize. She is on Seroquel (300 mg per day) to help her with everything and she has calmed down a lot. Hope that helps. Having a great psychiatrist on board is so key with the psych symptoms. Our psychiatrist did not know anything about Lyme but boy has he gotten on board after he watched her improve with abx. Hi All, In late October, early November, my 9 year old daughter (who has Lyme and Bartonella) received Rocephin intravenously for 6 weeks. We had 2 glorious weeks fear and anxiety free, where we had our beautiful daughter back with us again. Since that time, and since the midline was been pulled, her doc has been treating her ONLY with ABART and most recently with Byron Whites A-EB/H6 (although she started her at 10 drops 2x a day which caused her to go crazy so we stopped the herb and are detoxing and waiting for her to stabilize so that we can resume at 1 drop a day and try to build up). She is not using any antibiotics whatsoever. According to my doctor, she wants to give my daughter's liver a break. She never had any elevated enzymes or bad kidney function tests. Meanwhile, my daughter's condition has completely deteriorated. She is raging out of control, is tantruming all day long, abusing her little brother etc. Her anxiety has reached a point where she can no longer be in a room by herself, even to brush her teeth. We are at a point where we are considering medicating her to provide some relief for her and the family. Has anyone heard of only using herbs after IV treatment without antibiotics? I am told by my doctor (who is quite renowned) that the herbs are stronger than the antibiotics. Thanks for all of your help. Best,
Guest guest
. We did antibiotics all the way, no herbs or other remedies, for 2 years (my daughter was 8 at the time). This caused us to be " fired " by some doctors... which was painful and filled us with anxiety at the time.  I did not have a cristal bowl and yet this sweet little girl trusted me totally. I have never felt so much pressure. I remember thinking that it was unfortunate that we did not have the benefit of having two of her so we could scientifically prove which was the best way to go: with or without antibiotics. Seeing my daughter well 5 years later is the best reassurance that we took a good decision for her. Each child is different, each family has to make this decision. We were just not ready to take a risk with herbs or any other remedies by themselves when antibiotics have proven to work vs. all these infections and co-infections. I hope this helps. ________________________________ From: exec5565 <exec5565@...> Sent: Mon, January 10, 2011 8:09:00 AM Subject: [ ] Going out of my mind PLEASE HELP!!  Hi All, In late October, early November, my 9 year old daughter (who has Lyme and Bartonella) received Rocephin intravenously for 6 weeks. Guest guest
Without even knowing, it sounds like you are going to an Infectious Disease doctor and not a Lyme Specialist. A Lyme specialist would never treat for 6 weeks and then stop treatment for the bacteria to re- infest. It will definitely make her worse as you are witnessing. That is why the protocol is so different with a specialist and why most ID docs will not even treat it at all. You really need to take her to a llmd (lyme literate medical doctor). Lots of people do herbs if they can't take the antibiotics but if she was doing well on the Rocephin they should have kept her on it. It worked like a miracle on me. I took it for 13 months and I just got better and better. My son took Doxy and another anx combo in pill form at 8 years old for about a year. I took Rocephin shots as an adult. I Did not have liver problems after. I did however have to have my gallbladder removed even though I took actigall to prevent stones but I also had gotten pregnant and was the 10th patient that week that had to have a gallbladder-ectomy post pardon so that might have been a coincidence. I do however have adrenal insufficiency and some kidney hormone imbalances that I think are a result of the Lymes and not really the Rocephin since I had those symptoms before the treatment. Regardless, the leftover damage is better handled than continuing to be damaged by the Lymes. Good luck. You can usually get help finding a doctor by asking this forum for recommendations depending on what city or state you live in.... Guest guest
I am so sorry for what you're going through. My daughter has been sick with neuro lyme since this summer. It has been awful. She even had to be hospitalized for 10 days due to severe psych symptoms. She has been on IV Rocephin for about 5 or 6 weeks. She is also on a few other antibiotics as well and some herbal things. When she was treated for Lyme before, this is her second bout, when she was removed from ab it was after she had started the cowden protocol and was weened off her ab's. It wasn't IV meds though. I don't know if that makes a difference. As far as the liver test not being elevated, my understanding is that it doesn't come back elevated until the liver is already damaged. If you're not comfortable with the way she's being treated and have asked the doc but not gotten an answer that works for you, you can always get a second opinion. I know that's not much help. I do understand how hard it is to see your child turn into someone you don't know. I never could have imagined that a tiny bug could do this to a person. My heart goes out to you. All my best, Annie ________________________________ From: exec5565 <exec5565@...> Sent: Mon, January 10, 2011 9:09:00 AM Subject: [ ] Going out of my mind PLEASE HELP!!
