I'd suggest checking with your doctor on his thoughts for it. The only time my

son had issues with incontinence was when we went to zythromax 2x a day instead

of one but that was doubling the original dose which is different than what you

are trying to do by trying to spread the dose more evenly thoughout the day so

it may end up being a good option for you. When that happened with my son, the

doctor had us just go back to the original dose once a day again. I hope your

son tolerates the meds okay this time. Good luck.

[ ] Azith - 2x per day instead of 1x per day?

My son's doc prescribed Azithromycin once per day. When he first started it

(along with Omnicef) he had incontinence issues, so we stopped it and went back

to Amox. I restarted the Azith a couple weeks after he was back on Amox and had

no issues. Recently, the doc increased the dose of the Azith. and I'm wondering

if it is OK to give it in divided doses (1/2 in AM, 1/2 in PM) instead of once

per day. It seems to me this would avoid a major spike and then a major drop off

toward the end of the 24 hour period. Seems like it would keep a more even

amount in his system, plus I am afraid the major spike might set off

incontinence issues again. Any thoughts?

My son has been on zithromax twice a day for 8 months now, and seems to always

have to " pee " .He also has wet the bed a few times. Now I know why.

Antibiotics can give everyone diarrhea, that is one reason people use

probiotics. But it's also the best way to rid their bodies of the dead

or live spirochetes!!! Some doctors spread the doses out because

spirochetes can reproduce every 12 hours (he said) so it keeps your

blood saturated with the meds. Sounds logical.

I would check with the doctor as well. My daughter could not tolerate the

dose she was given (made her nauceous), and our doctor had her cut the pill

in half and taken twice a day. Its doable but only your doctor should be

the one that tells you if it will work in your situation.

Good Luck -

Our doctor prescribed it twice/day and I asked if we could do a double dose

once/day instead because it was easier, and he said fine to do that for my son

with zithromax, not fine for the mepron he is also on. I would ask your doctor

though, for your own situation.
