Guest guest
Mold at Andover Crooked Lake doesn't cause lung infections, institute reports ( Minneapolis Star Tribune ) ; 10-29-1997 The mold contamination that forced the closing of Crooked Lake Elementary School in Andover is not a source of lung infections, according to a report released this week. An investigation discovered mold in the roof deck of 75 percent of the building. The types of mold could be highly allergenic, according to the Institute for Environmental Assessment, hired by the Anoka-Hennepin School District to check the school. Discovery of the mold forced the school to close Oct. 13. Its 700 children have resumed classes at temporary locations. A reopening date for the school has not been set. An information meeting for parents is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria at Coon Rapids High School, 2340 Northdale Blvd. Meanwhile, mold problems have forced Lakeville school officials to close four portable classrooms at McGuire Junior High. Nearly 300 students who used the classrooms have squeezed into the main building for two weeks. Principal Jill said carpeting was being reinstalled this week, and teachers will use the workshop day scheduled for Friday " to reestablish themselves in their classrooms.
