I am in WV now, my sister still lives in Springfield . I used to work at a little theatre in ndale, The Americana, I think it is gone now. This was a long time ago. Wow, an almost neighbor. Guest guest
Hi Betty, Could I ask who your Rheumatologist is? I am so frustrated with my rheumy, since she does not listen to what I say, so I have been looking for a change. Thanks, Debbie > > Jeannette and Debbie, I live in ndale next to NOVA and have a super > Rheumatologist. I am blessed. Guest guest
Jeanette, where in West By God Virginia do you live? My parents were born in WV and I attended a community college in Logan County called Southern West Virginia Community College at Mudfork. Sometimes the school was referred to as Mudfork University, or MFU. lol. My sister and I used to sing " Mudfork, Mudfork " to the tune of New York, New York on the way to school each morning. I got quite an education in WV. Mostly about what is really important in life as WVers seem to " get " that. My father was a one armed coal mining inspector. He died before my diagnosis and I know he would have been a great encouragement to me now but I glean alot of my strength from his wisdom and example. He was not handicapped by any means. He made it. He found ways to make it work. He was quite funny. He received a new artificial arm from time to time through disability (which he only applied for when he was 63 and broke his back in the mine). So he had an drawer full of arms. lol. One of them had tiny little holes in it. That was his Dart arm. When he went to throw darts on Saturday afternoons, he would stick the darts in his arm and throw them from there, rather than from his pocket. It cracked people up. He looked like Burns and his personality was a cross between , Fred Sanford, Barney Phiffe, and Archie Bunker. What a man. Only West Virginia could produce that. Nuff of that. PA question. Remember I am only 3 years into my diagnosis and I went in with hand problems and now my body is eaten up with this so it's really all new to me. Even though I was hospitalized at 19 (I'm 44 now) with hip issues. I had years of minor aggravation but no serious flares until now. It still seems like it got bad quickly for me. So I consider myself a rookie and I'll be asking rookie questions. Here it is. When you get another illness, bladder infection, flu, virus, sinus mess or just a plain cold, does it aggravate the PA? It seems that when I am sick, my PA is so much worse. EVERYthing hurts. I think my hair hurts. My daughter and I are home sick with some bug today. Also, sometimes I wonder how I will know if I have something like a bladder infection because of my lower back pain. If I squat down to clean a mess on the floor, once I stand back up, I walk all bent over for a few minutes. At the super market, I pray I don't need anything on the lower shelf. I wish I had one of those pincher arms. Hey...someone should invent a walking cane that has a pincher on it for shopping! Hmmm....it could be inside the cane. I bet Ian is technical like that. Remember, I get a cut on this one. I was going to get my MRI today but I got a bug instead. Oh well. Tel Aviv, as my sister used to say. We never corrected her. We enjoyed hearing her say it too much. -Betz Jeanette French <yonder@...> wrote: Hi Betty, I know where ndale is, I used to live in Springfield among other places. Guest guest
Hi Betz, I have recently noticed that when I have a cold or such, that my PA hurts even more than usual... I am curious what the other responses will be. Glad you brought this up.................. Jody Betsy Jack <itsbetsy@...> wrote: Jeanette, where in West By God Virginia do you live? Guest guest
Hi Betsy, I live in Town, and this is amazing. My Grandfather shot off his arm while hunting, he was leaning on the gun. And he was a coal miner. He outworked everyone on the crew to prove he could still hold his job, as he had a large family. My Mom was born in Junior, WV, next to Elkins. We used to visit my Grandparents every summer till they died. What a funny University name...lol. I also remember all the artificial arms my Grandfather had in his drawer, though he would never wear them. He used to drive a stick shift, shift it with his stub and go flying around the turns in the mountains and scare all us kids to death. I feel like my hair hurts to some days. I would never have believed that you could feel this way day after day if I didn't have this. When I get sick it seems to make me very weak, and fatigue is an everyday issue too. My low back is pretty bad also. I am always putting ice on it, it helps a bit, but not much. We have much in common, Jeanette Re: [ ] Rheumatologist No. Virginia > Jeanette, where in West By God Virginia do you live? Guest guest
Jeanette, Daddy drove a stick too...VW Beetle. And he flew around corners as well. We crammed 3 girls, oboe, sax, trumpet, and all of our books into that bug. Daddy would make us think he was trying to nail garbage cans left out on the street. I remember all the sqeals. I know where Junior and Elkins is. It is amazing. I think Daddy worked extra hard to prove something too. We DO have alot in common. How's your hair feeling today? -Betz Jeanette French <yonder@...> wrote: Hi Betsy, I live in Town, and this is amazing. My Grandfather shot off his arm while hunting, he was leaning on the gun.
