It sounds more like an allergic reaction to me but that's an uneducated opinion.

I would suggest not giving him any more of the med though until you get to talk

with Dr. J. Good luck!

[ ] rash on bactrim

Dr J prescribed bactrim for my son, to add to zithromax and mepron. He only

took 2 doses, then last night got a itchy rash, mostly on his torso. Put some

cortisone cream on it and gave him some benadryl and it went away. Thinking it

must have been a reaction to the med, but also wondering if it could be a herx.

Can you herx this quickly, and if it is a herx, would the rash go away with

benedryl? I did not give him the bactrim today, and will call Dr. J tomorrow,

but just wondering what you all think in the meantime.

Thanks,

Dara

could be a herx -- my daughter got something else added and broke out in a

strange, itchy rash -- very tiny, starting on torso and then expanding to

underarms, groin and inner thighs. It went away pretty fast.
