Guest guest
Not taking antibiotics now. I have noticed that in the past when I took antibiotics that my pain was much less. I mentioned the correlation and he said he had never heard that before. I'll bet you feel better and have less pain when you take it. Guest guest
About twice per year I wind up with a sinus infection and take augmentin. I feel like a different person when on antibiotics, my joint pain inproves so much. I have mentioned this to my rhuemy, orthopaedic, spine and medical doctor and they all also tell me that there is no correlation. It is nice to hear of someone else that has experienced this. Guest guest
I've not been on it but my daughter has. Here's what she says about it. I was on Doxycyclene for about a year. I found it helpful. For me it was better than methotrexate or sulfasalazine (although Enbrel and Kinneret have been the best). It started to help after a couple of weeks. Doxycyclene didn't completely fix the flare I was in. But it did help, and once the flare was under control it helped with maintenance even more. I also know a gentleman with AS who has found it really helpful. Good luck, Janette in Indiana
Guest guest
There was a study done at Hopkins with long term anti-biotic use. It takes a bit for it to start working and with many people it worked particularly well. The down side it if they took them off of the anti-biotic all of the symptoms returned. I'm not quiet sure why they didn't go further with this research or what the ramification of being on long-term anti-biotic treatments might be (possibly resistance eventually?). I do however believe there are still rheumatologists that are still treating people this way as my husband's Uncle was on long-term anti-biotic until the day he died. I did notice Methotrexate as well though so I'm not sure if it worked so well for him. It is a shame I couldn't talk more with him about it but he died the same time my daughter was diagnosed. I also ran across some interesting research done on the correlation with rubella. I don't know if anyone has read anything on this? , Amber (16)
Guest guest
Hi, I'm taking a z-pak for bronchitis as and I to have noticed since day 2 that my PsA pain is almost totally gone, I haven't felt this good in years. Unfortunately, today is the last pill, by the end of the week I'm gonna be back to horrible pain. Lori in Az
