pill) -

Anyone else struggle with getting their kids to take probiotics. We have to put

the amox in a cup of apple juice to get her to take that. She is totally

refusing to take the probiotics. We have struggled with getting her to take any

type of medicine since she was a baby. We have tried pinning her down and

forcing her to take medicine and she just gags until she vomits it out. She

also has an overactive gag reflex and is hypersensitive to foods and smells.

I'm reluctant to put the probiotics in juice and worry about it loosing it's

effectiveness.

What kind of probiotics are people giving their kids?

Thanks.

Hi ,

I have the same struggle with my 10 yo. I buy kefir or liquid yogurt

(Stonyfield) and put Garden of Life Primal Defense Kids (powder) in it and mix

it up really well. In the summer I made her " probiotic smoothies " with it. She

loves it and I know this is working because before my daughter was struggling

with diarrhea. Now my daughter willingly takes her probiotic.

Hang in there, I can relate to how frustrating it is giving meds to a child who

refuses to take them.

We have added Kefir to our probiotic intake. It goes down well and tastes good.

I'm fortunate that my sickest child who takes tons of pills a day can down 10 at

once. It is hard for me to watch but I'm so thankful. He is 15 and has the

maturity to know that they are getting him better.

Have you tried a sticker chart or reward system? If she is half asleep, will she

take them then kind of without knowing?

Best of luck.

sometimes I mix it in ice cream.........food right before I serve it to

them............anything I can get away with.........I feel your

pain........before one of my girls could take pills I use to use patches with

her.........not sure if they come in probiotic??  I went through this website -

www.healingwaterswellnesscenter.com     I do not work with them very much

anymore but they were a huge help when I needed them............good luck :)  *

now I put many small meds in capsules so she doesn't have to take multi at a

time - depending on the size of the med sometimes I can put three in a capsule

at a time :)

my son was the same way and i would get him this really great liquid probiotic

from whole foods. it was great and didnt taste bad at all they come in little

plastic like dixie cups. probiotics are SUPER important and lots of dr's dont

stress it enough. we both got candida from the abx and the symptoms are very

similar to lyme and it is really hard to get rid of trust me it took us a LONG

time of an insane diet... so dont underestimate the importance of probiotics any

one w/ candida will tell you its horrible!!!!

good luck!

I found it helpful to put my daughter's meds in baby oral syringes. It

was a bit difficult at first getting it in her mouth but then after a

while SHE wanted to do it herself. The sense of control really helped.

She still takes her meds this way and won't use a med cup or measured

spoon. She has never let me feed her with a spoon even as a baby. We

just line up the syringes and put some juice in a cup for the yucky one

and she does it herself.
