Guest guest
I would like advice from anyone else who is homeschooling a teen with lyme. It has affected my daughter's ability to concentrate, focus and remember what she has read. It's almost like she's got ADD now because it's so hard to focus. Also fatigue and depression cuts down on the time she can spend on learning. It was a huge strain on her trying to keep up with the school's tutoring schedule in seventh grade. so last year for eighth grade, we used an eclectic method of homeschooling utilizing library, videos, dvds, cdroms, and internet. I tried to keep her stress level down and didn't even give her any tests. Now, I was reading about how while homeschooling for high school, transcripts should be kept with grades for each year if the child will be going to college. We had always hoped she would go to college because previously she was an A/B student. It is really such a struggle for her now trying to learn with the effects of lyme that maybe she won't be going to college if she doesn't get cured of this, but we want to be prepared in case she can. Are transcripts absolutely necessary? Or do entrance exams suffice? How does everyone else cope with these learning disabilities and keep up with all the curriculum? What if the course is not finished by the end of the school year? Do you just let them go at their own speed until they finish it? If it runs into the following year, then how do you fill in the transcript? I would like to hear how other parents managed homeschooling their children with lyme. Also, does anyone have 9th grade curriculum recommendations that their child with lyme had success with? I've settled on Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1, but am open for suggestions for the other subjects. Thanks, Pat
