Guest guest
All I can tell you is that I could sure use a dose of what you';re using! After my psoriasis being somnolent for 10 years, my legs flared in December. In late January after starting topical steroids, they only got worse. I have been through 14 Laser treatments. I have seen SOME relief, but it waxes---but mostly wanes. I went to a new Rheum this AM, but she ordered some Psoriasis blood tests first to see what to do. I am giving it three weeks. After that, I am simply going to go all-out with a DERMO and get going on the most aggressive meds I can get. Jon
Guest guest
quick update - had a short visit w/the doc this a.m. and got a Lyme test. he completely discounted the role of doxy in the remission of my symptoms - thinks it was spontaneous remission of PsA and not the doxy at work (and that the Lyme will be negative). he and I are going to discuss this further in a few days, but I have a hard time believing that the doxy didn't play a role and that it was coincidental spontaneous remission of 18+ months of symptoms . . . . anyone? Guest guest
I saw this post and thought about my daughter; she and a man in Ann Arbor who has the same disease and same rheumy both successfully take doxycycline for PsA. Guest guest
I am pleased that you are finding some relief. When I first began treatment for my P, the derm put me on an extended Doxy dose almost before we started light therapy. That leads me to believe that there has been some success with it in cases past. It wasn't until a couple of years later that the PSA showed up, and the derm that I saw after Katrina displaced me from NOLA (no stress there!) again wanted to go through a Doxy regimen to rule out its effectiveness before going to stronger measures (biologics). Guest guest
I have looked up doxycyline on the web and have found some research to support using doxycycline and an improvement of symptoms. I am really interested in this. I am connected to this group because my son was recently diagnosed with PSa. However, I have never been diagnosed with arthrtis, but have had a couple of back surgeries and am in constant pain all the time. A few months ago I had a UTI and was put on doxycycline. I all of a sudden was feeling much better and the pain in my back was pretty much gone. I even had contacted my doctor to tell him I was going to try to reduce my pain meds. It only lasted a few weeks and then I was back to the pain I had. But now that I read this, maybe the doxycyline I was on was the improvement I had. I never would have ever thought an antibiotic could have affected my pain management, but now that I have read this I may contact him and see if I can try going on it again to see if I can have improvment again. If this drug can help anyone else. I say give it a try.
Guest guest
I'm surprised you weren't tested for lymes disease to begin with. It's the first test my rhumatologist ran when I first showed up to her with all this pain. Celeste
Guest guest
Hi , <<... he completely discounted the role of doxy in the remission of my symptoms >> My experience with the " discounting " attitude seems to come out strongest when another doctor prescribed the treatment.
