Guest guest
Hello when first started her Embrel we asked if she would be able to come off of the other meds that was the trade off for me I did not want to give her another med . The only thing they told us was that she would be able to come off of the pred, and that she will be on the metho. for at least one more year. So I would think about it it will be 2 more shots a week I do it at home and some times you just do not want to do it any more . Embrel has better effect on some then others . well good luck >From: " Anton GRUSS " <anton.gruss@...> >Reply- egroups >< egroups> >Subject: Embrel >Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2000 07:45:57 +0200 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from [208.50.144.71] by hotmail.com (3.2) with ESMTP id >MHotMailBB107712003BD82197A6D03290474EBF312; Wed Jun 14 00:09:24 2000 >Received: from [10.1.10.37] by fh. with NNFMP; 14 Jun 2000 >05:47:13 -0000 >Received: (qmail 3516 invoked from network); 14 Jun 2000 05:47:11 -0000 >Received: from unknown (10.1.10.26) by m3.onelist.org with QMQP; 14 Jun >2000 05:47:11 -0000 >Received: from unknown (HELO postfix1.free.fr) (212.27.32.21) by mta1 with >SMTP; 14 Jun 2000 05:47:11 -0000 >Received: from gruss (grenoble-44-47.dial.proxad.net [213.228.44.47]) by >postfix1.free.fr (Postfix) with SMTP id 313BF28111 for >< egroups>; Wed, 14 Jun 2000 07:47:10 +0200 (MEST) >From sentto-80038-5527-960961632-shancna Wed Jun 14 00:13:07 2000 >X-eGroups-Return: >sentto-80038-5527-960961632-shancna=hotmail.comreturns (DOT) onelist.com >Message-ID: <016601bfd5c3$d835b280$2f2ce4d5@gruss> >References: <8i73kg+n587eGroups> >X-Priority: 3 >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal >X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2615.200 >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2615.200 >Mailing-List: list egroups; contact -owneregroups >Delivered-mailing list egroups >Precedence: bulk >List-Unsubscribe: <mailto: -unsubscribeegroups> > >Hello all, >Viven (11) has been for 1.5 years now under MTX, cyclosporin and aspirin >and >10 mg cortison. >He has helped him a lot after some bad months. >Doctors think to put him on EMBREL now. > >In your experience, when you use EMBREL is it possible to discontinue all >other drugs ?? > > >Anton GRUSS > > > >------------------------------------------------------------------------ >Want to win airfare to Vegas for you and 20 friends, $15,000 and a >suite at Bellagio for New Year's? At that stage she only used steroids (that is the only drug which works for her, even mtx gives zero effect). Just 2-3 days after starting Enbrel she was markedly better! All inflammation sites improved. Hence, we could start lowering the pred doses immediately. We followed a gradual tapering down scheme forward in time and continued until the inflammation returened somewhat after a couple of months. Then, we waited for a couple of months and tried further reduction. Prior December, she was in a steady state for a couple of years on a constant high dose of pred, due to Enbrel she is now 40% lower in pred consumption, and that is really a significant reduction and we are very happy aboat that. However, her cushing syndrome has not reduced much, it seems that there is a very long time delay (lag) of that process, some kind of hysteresis. Good luck, hope that Enbrel also works for Vivien, he and you really deserves that. Best regards Helge PS In March I think about climbing the Mount Blach mountain north of you in Grenoble. You are lucky to have so many high points near you!
Guest guest
Hello, my name is Melodi and I am 23 years old. I was diagnosed with JRA at 6 years old and have been on quite a bit of drugs like your sons and daughters. My drug history includes prendisione, tolectin, plaquenol, naprosyn, methotrexate, gold injections and more recently Embrel injections. I am incredibly pleased with Embrel. After about a 1 1/2 weeks I started seeing tremendous results. My joint pain, swelling and morning stiffness decreased. I am going on a year on this drug. I am still taking anti-inflammatory for those wet days that really cause my joints to ache. I have been reading all of the recent postings and would be happy to answer any questions that you or your children may have. I am currently an elementary school teacher and have come such a long way. I hope everyone is having a good summer! Take care, Melodi
Guest guest
Thanks Helen! I was hoping I would be able to get one of those free somehow! I also have been using the laundry detergent bottle. It works fine for me but just takes up a lot of room. & Grant (11,Psa/Uveitis) > > To all of you that use Embrel or some other form of shots.......you can order a FREE sharps container to put your used needles in. It is the red hazardous boxes that they use at the hospital for needles, but this one is a little smaller. I stumbled across it a few weeks ago, when reading up on the embrel medicine. It is through Enliven services. Once it is full, you can call them back (the service is free as well) and they will tell you how to dispose of the needles and the red box! > > here is the website, to order your free box! > > https://www.enlivenservices.com/ra/ongoingsupport/forms/sharps- container.jsp > > Here is their homepage, I have found this site very helpful. However, I found that hard to do, since the whole injector part didn't fit in there. Guest guest
Well, that's another blessing I have.... excellent insurance. I'm on MTX and Enbrel. Has the dr tried you on MTX yet? Dotti
Guest guest
, you need to call your rheumy's office and let them know that the insurance will not pay for the meds they prescribed. They (the rheumy) should either get busy persuading the insurance to pay or they should prescribe one of the other DMARDs (like MTX) for you to try first. But don't wait until your next appointment! Don't waste time in pain. Call the rheumy's office immediately and get them moving on plan B. best, sherry z
Guest guest
: it's your doctor's job to provide the insurance company with the information they need to make an informed decision. Only he can do it and any good doctor should be able to make the case. My insurance company initially rejected Enbrel, also, but my doctor appealed and on the third try sent them copies of the x-rays she had taken and that did the trick. Call your doctor (or his assistant who works on these kinds of things) and ask what they're doing. Don't wait. Joanna Hoelscher
Guest guest
, Have your doctor help you out because I am sure he/she is used to this. My insurance denied me the first time and I had to resubmit. Call them, write down the times you call, with whom you speak, what they say. Write them and better yet, have your doctor send a letter. Stay on them. Enbrel is not new and the insurance company knows that it works and have seen the results for sometime. The benefits of Enbrel was two fold. It helped the psoriasis and my arthritis. If you were taking this for psoriasis it would probably be easier to get on. BUT you are getting a two in one effect from it. I have been on it for sometime. Now I am down to a shot a week and sometimes can stretch it longer and my joints have shown improvement. BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE! Whatever you take and need to take stay on the Insurance Company. Also, contact Enbrel. They may have some information you can use and maybe help to deal with the insurance company. My Best, CB
Guest guest
I had the same problem a few times and there is a way for you to fight it. It should be on the form letter that the Insurance sends you when they reject the drug.. I cannot remember at the moment the exact word that is used There is a process that you can take to ask for a reconsideration by your insurance( I also did that with success but it took a bit of a fight by writing and following their procedures) I take provigal that helps me with being tired all the time with the fibro and my insurance did not want to pay for it and Medicare made them pay for it and each year( 5 years now) I have to have my doctor send a note as to why it is needed for me There are some groups that help with paying for medication if you are in the US. I am not sure if I am allowed to post them here or I would in this email I had a problem when Enbrel stopped working and I had to get on Orencia as soon as possible.. I spent a a long calling and writing to organizations so I have the leads that I can pass on to anyone who feels they may need help You can also get the drug company to help also I have a group now that pays for my medication and thank god now Medicare pays for the infusion and I just pay the copay I would be glad to pass them on to the group if I am allowed or if anyone would like to know some of the organizations that you can get on waiting lists,etc.. if they are full You can email me privately and I would be glad to send them on to you June
