Guest guest
Sorry, I have no experience w/ Bactrim but I have three things to add: 1) I notice my throat bothers me sometimes, it might be a scratchy feeling or my glands acting up but I've never had the feeling your daughter experiences. 2) In my experience with Tindamax, and my son's, it's pretty hard core. It brought out herxing and a secondary bullseye rash (in my son) so don't rule that out as a possibility. 3) Anxiety definitely increases w/ herxing or throughout this whole process. Wish I could be more help. Best wishes. Since beginning Bactrim back in June of this year, our daughter has complained that her throat feels small, weird, feels like a lump. She was taking the Bactrim for Bart. We have recently stopped the Bactrim due to a possible sulfa allergy, but the throat issues continue and then she gets nervous when it happens and then says it is hard to breath. She did not have any throat issues for ten months when treating with Mino and Rifampin. Also, her anxiety is more bothersome since the Bactrim. She also began two day a week of Tindamax shortly after beginning the Bactrim. So not sure if one or both stirred something up. She has not been diagnosed with Babs. Any thoughts, Jane
Guest guest
GERD is a common side effect of antibiotics and can feel like a lump in your throat. Ask your doctor if she could try 14 days of Prilosec (omprenazole) and see if this helps relieve her throat issues. Dr. J said its the cyst form of lyme hiding in the intracellular tissue, the rash was only there for 2 days....I wonder....how long has your son been on tindamax and how often ? Guest guest
My daughter experienced something that may be similar. It turned out to be Vocal cord Dysfunction. She had the feeling of something in her throat and when it was bad she had real trouble breathing. It was very frightening. For her it was caused by several things, one being anxiety. We also noticed when her acid reflux was bad it was worse. Food and parfume Allergies and running were the biggest triggers. Hers got so bad we had several ER visits but they never knew what to do for her. We went to many specialists for it. Besides treating the Lyme, allergies and acid reflux it was real important to be as calm as I could when it was happening and for her, making her laugh actually helped. She still at times during exercize experiences it. Now when she feels it coming on she makes sure she breaths through her nose and the biggest technique that was most helpfull was to put the tip of her tongue on the roof of her mouth right behind her teeth. She says those two things really help. I hope this helps! Guest guest
My daughter had the throat issues when she was younger. I had forgotten until reading Annie's post. Her doctor suggested she get a warm washcloth and place it over her nose and mouth and breath though it. I thought it was poppy cock but it worked for her. I am not sure if this would help at all, but it did relax my daughter and whatever was causing her throat to feel closed it relaxed it. Good luck,

Guest guest
My 8 yr old son (Lyme & Bart) took Bactrim last winter and had swollen throat complaints too. He prefered to take Echinacea capsules and I allowed it thinking maybe his lymph system was stressed and glands in his neck were swollen. Or maybe it was just the placebo effect. In any case, sometime early in the summer he stopped asking for Echinacea and hasn't mentioned his throat since. He is still on Mino, Omnicef, and Tindamax. He also had a bad time with anxiety, but that is much improved now. --Sue On 8/18/2010 5:07 PM, Loni wrote: > > > Jane, my son has had that same issue.
