Guest guest
While Humira, Enbrel & Remicade can compromise your immune system, they are not a true immunosuppresants and are not used to treat any type of transplant that I have ever been aware of. While drugs like cyclosporin, cellcept and tacromilus are true immunosuppresants. The chances of getting cancer from true immunosuppressants is 10 times more likely than getting cancer if you've never taken them. You don't see those kind of warnings on Humira, Enbrel or Remicade, that's not to say that you can't get cancer from them it's just not as likely compared to a true immuno drug. It's not that these drugs cause sinus infections they just lower your response to invaders making you much more susceptible. I got this direct from not only my transplant team but also multiple the ENT's. I was told that as long as I was taking any of them that I would be susceptible to sinus infections. The one good thing about having a kidney transplant was the I wasn't on dialysis plus the meds kept my PA in remission but on the bad side I had constant sinus infections and was always taking some sort of antibiotic.
