Guest guest
Hi It certainly sounds like retracing to me. Just the other day, Bee mentioned that joint pain is caused by toxins being released by the body. Muscle pain and tightness are caused by toxins. I am currently experiencing hip joint pain/stiffness. In particular the hip flexors are really tight. I get up from sitting like a little old lady! Stretching helps a bit, but I also know that it is toxins being released so I'm not worried about it. If you can your hands on Epsom salts, I'd bet that it would be a good idea to take a bath with them. Unfortunately I can't buy them here. Good luck! > > Hi all, > <snip> > > The hip is the most noticable but my neck and lower back muscles have become really tight as well. It is definately the change that has brought this all on, I keep bringing myself back to thinking that this is part of healing. I haven't read of anyone else having these same problems though, can anyone comment on my problem? > > Regards, > > Chris >

Perfect timing, eh? That's the way natural healing works. When I was an advisor on the CureZone Candida Forum there was a guy who said his eye and face were becoming purple and swollen and he didn't understand why. Well he had been hit by a baseball or bat about 10 years before, and he was 10 months on the program. Viola!! My friend also got bad hip pains after having a bone scan, which was caused by toxic radiation. It was interesting that she only took niacinamide (synthetic niacin) since niacin caused such a severe flush she couldn't stand it. However she started taking niacin, only 1 grain or pinch at a time, and was able to tolerate the flushes. She'd had a lot of x-rays, bone scans, etc., along with radiation from the sun, TV, computer, etc. Recently my brother thought he had a stroke because the side of his face was numb and swollen. He had already talked to my sister, a nurse, and she said his symptoms didn't indicate a stroke, so he called me. Come to find out he was " retracing " getting many novacaine shots by one dentist. At the time he thought it was excessive and his face felt exactly the same as it did currently. He was greatly relieved, to say the least. I definitely retraced ripping my large thigh muscle when I was in baseball in the 1970s. Anyone else would have thought they had a blood clot and if they went to the doctor nothing would have been found. Too bad doctors don't understand natural healing and how the body has such powerful healing capabilities IF given what it needs!! Here's a very interesting " retracing " Success Story by Treva, when she retraced getting 2 epideral shots in her spine while giving birth to her son: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/success/ss93a.php Believe in your body, give it what it needs, and you'll WIN! Onward & upward! The best to you, Bee

At one point I could not move my knees more than a foot apart. I was told to stretch, get massage and acupuncture treatments, soak in hot baths with Epsom Salts, and finally I was using a magnesium oil spray that is applied directly to the skin surrounding the affected area. All this barely made a dent in my ability to move freely without great pain. Turning my head to look both ways before driving across a street, getting up from a seated position and even going up or down stairs was terribly difficult for me. When I began Bee's program, the healthy fats and oils made an almost immediate improvement. Removing toxic products from my life was very important too. But then I began the dry skin brushing. While the fats/oils made a huge difference, the skin brushing took my body to the next level. I can feel the toxins beginning to disperse when brushing especially the back of my neck and shoulders as well as my low back. I also pay special attention to my arm pits and groin areas. Not using antiperspirant helps too. I must admit that I do more than one stroke up toward my heart, and I do more than one pass of each body part. I know I'm not supposed to, but it helps so much! No more Motrin for me! There's no need. Now that I've started Bee's program, the stretches I do are almost effortless and my range of motion is increasing all the time. My shoulders have moved back instead of being rounded forward and my hips have got their " wiggle " back. LOL Hope this helps! W

I first noticed a stiif right hip when I was in my late teens, (52 now). I have had other painful areas as well and after 15 months with Bees diet I have been doing much retracing. I have had 3 major healing reactions, (all after coffee enemas) and the pain in my hip, butt and right shouldeH were severe for and hour of two each time. Afterwards all previous painful limbs are stronger. Hang in there. Neal >
Guest guest
Janet, Lets hope the steriod injection helps, but I'm curious, why not replace those screws and deal with the irritation of those nerves by them? Please do let us know what Hey has to say. Are you adverse to having a fix it surgery? Tough hunh, please let us know how things proceed and if the injection helps. Ah, Scoliosis, it just keeps giving, sometimes not so nicely. Colorado Springs [ ] Hip Pain I saw one of the PAs at Dr. Hey's office last Wednesday for worsening lower back pain that radiates to hips and legs and also for hip pain (in joints). Had digital XRays done. Bottom screw on right is loose (fusion did not fully grow to screw but already know that). She thinks the bottom screw on left may be a little loose, too. I am having a CAT scan done today. She thinks the screws may be impinging on nerves. If this is the case, will have steroid epidural in lower back. I had one in cervical area a few months ago and it really helped. Fusion and hardware looks good so not likely any surgery needed at this time. My L5-S1 joint still looks good and I was thankful for that. So now will just be waiting to hear from Dr. Hey after he sees the CAT scan results.Just wanted to update you all on whats going on with me.Janet in SC

Guest guest
Hi Debra, Welcome to the group! We are sorry you are experiencing pain associated with scoli. I know it is a long hard road. Who is your ortho? Have you been diagnosed with flatback or no? Are you pursuing any type of PT? If you are unfamiliar with flatback you can read about it in the files section. Mostly it is a condition developed from the use of harrington rorods. Anyway, I just wanted to say welcome and your in the right place. I am sure others will chime in. C > > I am new to the list. I had Harrington instrumentation and spinal fusion in 1967. I had been very active physically but the last couple of years have been painful. I still have a 30 degree curve and the burning is in my hip where the muscle is being pulled due to the curve. I am taking 2 prescriptions daily (non-narcotic) but hate to think I will be this way the rest of my life. Some days are dreadful, I walk tilted and have trouble with the pain. Any input would be appreciated. I have a good orthpedic doc I like a lot. >
Guest guest
Hi Donna, I had severe hip pain and pelvic pain prior to revision. I must say that has been reduced by about 80% but it is still present. My hips were used for harvesting the first time round and they have DJD. My first fusion was torqued at the hip so my pelvic still takes some pressure but all and all it is quite livable post flatback revision. Guest guest
Dear Debra, First I'm sorry you are experiencing pain, and tilting. It's tough. We are glad to have you among us, sad you find yourself needing support, but know we get it. When you realize you have problems, the next step is what to do, and it's hard to start the process, given what we went through all those many years ago. Take it one step at a time. First, who did your Harrington Placement, and where? Where are you located now, and who are you seeing? Was Flatback mentioned by this doc? Pain in your hip can be much more than a muscle pulling. What levels are fused on you? What med's are you taking? Do they help? Have you done any PT? Post Harrington Rod, a local Ortho guy maynot be your best choice. You need to get to a doc well versed in this, as our spines are VERY complicated, give us your location, and we can help you find doc's for opinions. First, you need to get to someone who does this work all the time, and see exactly what is going on with you. Most here see a couple of doc's for opinions. Doc's doing this work often are limited, but are spread accross the country, but not all states have such a doc, so travel sometimes will be necessary. A good place to start is the Scoliosis Research Society site, just google them, and there they have a physician locator, by state, and even city. You will be looking for key words in the description of the doc, like aging spine, deformity, etc. If calling such a doc, ask to speak with his assistant, and ask their office deals with post Harrington Rod spines and Flatback. Also this board has a great deal of info, go to the FILES section, grab a cup of coffee and read, and read, and read. Member stories will also be enlightening. The more informed you are when search for docs, dealing with what they have to say, the better patient you'll be, information is power. Look forward to hearing more from you, and welcome to the group! Colorado Springs [ ] hip pain I am new to the list. I had Harrington instrumentation and spinal fusion in 1967. Guest guest
Has anyone had a steroid shot to help relive the hip pain? I'm fused from L4 to T11 and have had shooting "muscle" pain through my rear and what has felt like arthritis pain throughout my hips. Pain is also starting to radiate down my legs with numbness. I have been diagnosed with Flat back from a Harrigton rod surgery in '84. Xray's show my hips are fine, but L5 and below is riddled with osteoarthritis and PT and over the counter meds aren't helping much. What are peoples thoughts on the cortozone shots? Guest guest
, I had a series of shots in the hips in the years before revision. They worked well at first. The first one lasted a year, the second about 9 months, the third, six months. The fourth not at all. It is done with a live xray machine for guidence. It is a bit uncomfortable though during the procedure. I though the shots were worth it. It bought me the time I needed to strengthen my life prior to surgery. Guest guest
, I've had two rounds of steroid shots (you can only get 3 shots a year). I'm fused to L4 also and have had leg, hip, lower back pain. The first year these did help the sciatic type leg numbness and pain when standing or walking. I only had two shots in this year as the pain was much relieved. This past year I had two shots each which lasted maybe a month then I had a facet joint shot and that helped sooooo much more. I'm dealing with pain again now (a year later, no leg pain though) and hope that when I finally go in they decide to do this one again. Yes, hurts like anything but if it hurts you know that they are getting the right spot! Good luck! Guest guest
, Cortizone injections are worth a try, if you get something out of it, and time to do research and get your body ready for surgery. I did two of them, done with guidance, and for me, no relief at all. Some get relief right away, that fades with time, and some really are thankful for them. I had arthritis and stenosis, and didn't reap any reward from them. I was glad I tried it though. Colorado Springs [ ] hip pain I am new to the list. Guest guest
Well, gee whiz, Janet! I'm going this Friday for pelvis pain!! I think it might be associated with the screw in it. I just found my x-rays taken immediately after surgery with the portable. I had no idea I had them! Those screws sure are big! Hopefully everything will work out for you! Peggy [ ] Hip Pain I saw one of the PAs at Dr. Guest guest
Peggy, In 's photo file, in the photo's section there is a picture of of her illiac screws after they were removed. I think Janet isn't fused to the sacrum, so her errant screws seems to be at or above L5. Those illiac bolts/screws are big, and amazing to see. Makes me wish all the more that I had asked for my first revision hardware when it was removed, opportunity lost to share what it looked like. Dang! Guest guest
Cortozone shots will sometimes give you temporary relief, but in no way any long term relief. For me, they are painful when receiving them, and then there might be some relief a little while later. It only worked once for me and then it didn't seem to make a difference, but everyone's situation is different so it might be more of a benefit for you. Since you have osteoarthritis, I would look into the side effects of cortozone and how it might affect the osteoarthritis. But that's just my personal opinion.
Guest guest
Hi , I'm in a similar situation. I had the steroid shots, 3 over a period of a year and a half. It was painful right after the shot but then it really helped the lower back and hip pain. But, it doesn't last very long, a few weeks at most. My dr. told me at some point they will start doing more damage than good, so I didn't have anymore. I'm struggling now to find something to help relieve the lower back and hip pain, nothing works anymore. I'm looking for some good stretching and strengthening exercises. Good luck, I hope you find some relief. Thanks, From: Kirkaldie <.KirkaldieComcast (DOT) .net>Subject: Re: [ ] hip pain Date: Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 5:19 PM Dear Debra, First I'm sorry you are experiencing pain, and tilting. Guest guest
Wow that does sound strange. Please keep us posted. On May 27, 2011, at 4:49 PM, musician12858 wrote: > Okay - so this is weird. I called my surgeon's office and because of the holiday, the soonest I could see him is next Wednesday. I also figured it would make sense to get x-rays before I saw him (I did that today). > > However, today my hip was almost back to its' " normal " self! I cannot explain it. I was barely able to walk yesterday and last night and had to use my cane. I am keeping my appointment and went ahead with the x-rays. I was convinced yesterday that perhaps the joint had loosened or whatever. The pain was intense and radiated down the leg and up into the buttocks area. I know it is not " out of joint " as I would not be able to put any weight on it. > > For those who have experienced it, what kind of pain do you have with a replacement loosening? Guest guest
If you are suffering from pain and your life is being made a misery by that pain AND you are diagnosed by a doctor as needing a hip replacement, what are you waiting for. Hip replacement surgery for almost everyone gives one's life back - enables one to walk and move without the excruciating pain caused by the bad hip. Almost everyone regrets not having had the surgery sooner - most people for the first hip seem to wait to long because the thought of surgery is scary. Since it's an elective surgery, only an individual is able to decide when the pain and the circumscribed existence caused by the pain is worse than the fear of surgery. Guest guest
The longer you wait, Goldie, the worse the pain will become. If your life is being compromised by the pain, then you need to think seriously about pursuing surgery. I had my left hip replaced in Oct 2009. I had gotten to the point where I had to work from home and the pain was taking over my life. That is definitely no way to live. Surgery is scary, but so is the prospect of getting so bad, you need a wheelchair. Once the surgery is over, so is that pain. You have healing pain, but it's nothing like what went before. Do your PT, take pain meds if necessary and get your life back! Research, ask questions, learn as much as you can. Being prepared is very important.
