Mike: for what it's worth, my husband gets rx benefits from the VA, but they

typically provide only generics at low cost. There is no generic yet for any of

the biologics so what they're charging you is likely a pretty good deal, given

what they typically cost. One thing you might consider - if you haven't already

- is to see if your insurance company will cover a greater portion of the cost.

Because Remicade is an infusion which can only be administered in a hospital or

doctor's office, insurance tends to pay more for that when it won't the

biologics that you inject yourself.

Don't know if you have explored the patient assistance from the manufacturer

and/or other groups. Again, I don't know your circumstances but you might want

to check out this webpage:

http://www.access2wellness.com/a2w/index.html. There are some sites that assist

in the cost of medications even if you have insurance. I do not know if this is

one or not but it might be worth looking.

Hi Mike,

> I just applied to the VA for prescription benefits. My insurance is charging

me a copay of up to $800.<

From what my son tells me about the VA, much of how you're charged in co-pays

depends upon your percentage of service connected disability. It helps to find a

GOOD advisor which can even be found in your primary care giver but there are

others. Begin asking questions with your care giver who should be able to direct

you.
