enbrel and tb

I have come out of lurkdom to ask a question for those on Enbrel. A quick

background. Have had psoriasis since I was 7. Was diagnosed with PA about 3

years ago. Have been on methotrexate for about 2 yrs. I hate it. I decided to

take enbrel...finally. It was a hard decision like I am sure it was for some of

you. The bad news is my father had TB when I was 2 yrs old and I was exposed to

it. So I am positive on the TB test. Since its been so many years the rheumy

wants a TB test and wants to put me on the TB meds...... 44 years later.

Have anyone here had a similiar situation???

Also, since I never had any childhood diseases I decided to get another MMR

since I have not had one since I was young. Since its a live virus shot I

thought I'd get all this done obviously before I started Enbrel. Has anyone on

Enbrel had any live virus shots. I feel I have a great rheumy but it is hell

getting into seeing him if I don't have an appt already. I am having to talk

thru his nurse (if she is indeed a nurse). Any thoughts is appreciated.

Hi,

Well for me I test positive as well its been that way since i was a child but my

doc. or rheum. doesn't seem to bee concern about it except that I get a lot of

infection in my lungs and when I too Enbrel the infection just kept getting

worse so Im off it just on Methotrexate. Can you tell me why your doc. things

you should get the shot if you will always test postive and you have it in you?

Im just wondering what will the benigt of it. I was told not to get live shot

cause it can make you worse with infection . I also have hepatitis A that since

I was child and I can't take any shot for it cause it will make it worse.
