Guest guest
Does anyone have any ideas for keeping your scalp from flaking and itching and your ears? I have tried, olive oil, tar shampoos, etc...The shampoos seem to dry it out more and make it worse...This is my worst spot... Thanks, Kandi
Guest guest
Hi Kandi: I had severe scalp psoriasis months before the full body arthritis set in (I had no idea the two were related, just thought I had really bad dandruff) and like you tried all kinds of shampoos. Quite honestly, nothing worked. My scalp psoriasis did not clear up until I began Enbrel (my arthritis was very severe by then.) I found that since the inflammation is really coming from within, topical solutions do very little to ease the psoriasis. My dermatologist prescribed a corticosteroid-based topical ointment, but I did not use it because I was already on short-term prednisone and had a hydrocortisone shot around that time--corticosteroids wreak havoc on my body, so the thought of yet another dose, albeit on the surface of my skin, was not appealing at all. I totally feel your frustration. Has your rheumatologist or dermatologist suggested anything? Keep us posted on your progress and hang in there! --Vera
Guest guest
Vera, I've had problems with my scalp in the past. Ask your dermatologist to prescribe you Clobex Shampoo. It comes in a squeeze bottle and you put it on your dry hair and let set for 15 minutes, lather and rinse. It says on the bottle not to use it more than 4 weeks. You can ask the dermatologist how often and how long you should use it. This was the best treatment I have found for my scalp. I went to several dermatologist before I found what worked for me. They also have clobex lotion to put directly psoriasis too. You may be able to get this prescription from your Family Doctor. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Thanks Rhonda. My dermatologist prescribed a Clobetasol solution that is applied topically. My scalp psoriasis did clear up almost 100% with Enbrel, but it is now showing up again around my ears. I put some of the Clobetasol solution in those areas this morning. Thanks, your posting reminded me that I had this solution! --Vera -
Guest guest
Are you going to any other sites for information and have you read anything, or is this your first contact? I did find that because of how tenacious these things are they migrate from one place to another if their locale is not working for them. They started in my scalp over 2 years ago. I no longer have sores in my scalp, although some crawlers and biters once in a while. So you have to treat the whole body. You have to treat the environment as well as the outer body and the inner as well. When I saw the inner, change your diet (for many of us this is necessary, but not all), no sugars except occasional fruit, lots of green vegetables, cleanse colon, eat fewer carbohydrates in general), etc. You've probably heard all of this before. With children it is harder to all of the above, I know. Where do you think you contracted this? scalp I have been dealing with this for about 8 months now and feels like they are nesting only on my scalp. I have many sores on my head and am embarrased to get a haircut. My kids have been itching their heads lately and am hoping they don't start getting sores either. Any suggestions? I've never posted before.
Guest guest
I have been looking at this web site for months. I've tried the tea tree oil and shampoo but that just seems to aggrivate it along with cleaning, many baths using salt and bleach. I believe we have gotten this from mice in the attic. Last year was the worse as we heard them through the ceiling. Another concern is that when we go on vacation, they are still there biting us. It's so sickening that you can't get away from it not even for a little while. I used to feel that we need to move out of our house but now realize they are living in our skin. My kids are a main concern with school. I'm afraid to have any of their friends over, what happens if I have a birthday party for them? I am so afraid of anyone getting bit. > > > > Where do you think you contracted this? > > > > > > > > > scalp > >  > > > > > I have been dealing with this for about 8 months now and feels like they are nesting only on my scalp. Guest guest
Also soak all brushes combs in fels naptha or liquid lye, or ammonia. I use a plastic gallon container with lid. Use just one of the above not all together. > > I have been dealing with this for about 8 months now and feels like they are nesting only on my scalp.
