Guest guest
I got the flu shot a few weeks ago and was fine. Has anyone ever gotten the Shingles vaccine? My internist was afraid to give it to me because of my compromised immune system from the lyme?
Guest guest
Just as long as you don't mind all the other toxins, like aluminum, etc. And mercury. No way I'd ever do it. I would think you also know the flu shot is only good for the previous years bug. Alison F.
Guest guest
At my house, flu shots cause horrendous illness for the person getting it for over a month, and then everyone else gets sick for over a month. We are pretty much never sick except at that time. I hate them, and they are only taken at our house to keep employment. I hate them, I hate them, I hate them. Heidi N I have found that mercury or no mercury, getting the flu shot is much much better than not getting it. **************Play online games for FREE at Games.com! Guest guest
Dear Martha, When I lived in States, precisely in NY State, my doctor was Dr. Enlander of NYC. He is a specialist in CFS. He told me that for some reason we CFS patients do not get the flu. Yes, he was right about that. I had been so sick for so long with sinus infection that I forgot all about the flu. I did get a flu shot the past three years: once in the US and twice in Poland. The worse kind of reaction that I had was that I felt worse for up to 48 hours. I had a very mild fever and the fatigue was more bothersome. Like magic when the 48 hours were over the symptoms disappeared. I don't know if you immunity will get any better, because of the flu shot. I don't think that mine got any better. Mira @...: kmpfeiffer@...: Mon, 3 Nov 2008 00:15:12 +0000Subject: Flu Shot In past years on this list the flu shot topic comes up. I have had CFS for 20 years - I never had a flu shot. I can't bare the thought of getting sicker, yet, I can't bare the thought of catching the flu, either. Guest guest
Due to the fact that this list consists of entirely different conditions and diseases, I could not possibly find any conclusions on a flu shot from a poll, or replies, unless they specified what exactly they have and elaborated a bit if they had the shot. Tho I'm less sure about this part, the ages and stages of disease might also make a difference. I have had classic sx and classic viral onset NeuroImmune ME/CFS for 23 years. Due to early advice against the flu shot, based on the specific immune dysfunctions (partially up-regulated), I have never had a flu shot. After many years, I also reverted back to being susceptible to the flu, which is also a serious concern for me now, especially with Cardiomyopathy, and that I also developed drug resistent Pneumonia one year. So, no small issue. One year, I took Amantadine, prophylactically? and did not get the flu. That required careful dosing, not simple, but am considering this now. In 2005, 2006, Dr. Cheney told me I might consider the Pneumonia shot, but I've not done that either. I assume he agreed w/ no flu shot becasue nothing changed about that. Some further considerations for the shots: A) They only target certain strains...the ones predicted for that year. You can find out which do not have Thermasol/Mercury from the Pharmacies. About Amantadine: It is also supposedly only for a certain strain, but I have heard of Specialists who prescribed it as prevention. You can look this up, including on the CDC website (the last time I looked anyway). I'm sure others have valuable information, including any updates, so it seems it should be answered with specific experience , or disease and Specialist-specific citations. Guest guest
I had my last flu shot about 10 years ago.Did not have much flu after stopping to take it. Strange thing is that a specific point on my arm where the flu shot was given starts giving me pain and burning when i get flu virus. Still..After 10 years.Last year i had a cold and that flu shot point started burning and giving me some pain. When this happens i understand that important flu is coming and i start taking care of myself before the initial symptoms of flu appear. any explanations to this strange happening? thanks. nil Re: Flu Shot Due to the fact that this list consists of entirely different conditions and diseases, I could not possibly find any conclusions on a flu shot from a poll, or replies, unless they specified what exactly they have and elaborated a bit if they had the shot. Guest guest
ALL multi-dose vials of flu vaccine will have thimerosal, unless you specifically request a single dose vial (these do not contain thimerosal, but will contain other adjuvants such as aluminum and formaldehyde). Always request the package insert and read the ingredients info yourself. If you are concerned about keeping yourself and family healthy this winter, then supplement Vitamin D3 (or spend winter in Florida in the sun, don't I wish!!) for a strong immune system. Keep your Vit. D level at least 50 ng/ml or above. I have never had a flu shot, and I have never been ill with flu or anything else since 1998. While the flu creates very obvious symptoms that can make us feel miserable, do not assume " very minor risks associated with flu shots " because you are unable to see or feel a reaction. Vaccines hyperstimulate the immune system and those reactions are very real indeed while you may not see or feel a thing. My son's vaccine injury was not immediately apparent until several months later when a rash appeared on his trunk, and it took me many more months of study and research to recognize what really occurred. It is far easier today to educate yourself about vaccines and how the immune system works than 10 years ago when I began, so take advantage of the many websites available and free webinars to get informed. Health is a personal responsibility. Withers

Guest guest
My 10 yr-old just reminded me how last year the teacher was talking about vaccines, specifically for polio, and how the kids didn't have to worry because they were all probably vaccinated. Will said No, not me. Oh, yes said the teacher. I'm sure you were. Nope, he said I definitely wasn't, not once. And all the kids came to him after that asking questions about why not. He said because my mom thinks vaccines can make you sick. I wonder what this year will hold with the swine flu scaring the sense out of everyone. Already my son's first school dance was canceled because of the fear. It was a huge deal, too. He's going to an all boys high school and a number of the single-sex schools were getting together so the kids could meet. It's very important but oh, no. This particular flu has some magical power over people. You would think no other diseases exist. Kind of makes you wonder: how serious are other diseases if the world didn't stand still for them before? Winnie flu shotvaccinations > I just received an e-mail from my granddaughter. Guest guest
My oldest son did something similar for a debate assignment for English class. He had to pick a law that should be revoked and he chose mandated vaccines (he procastinated and then was at my mercy when he asked for ideas. I just couldn't think of another!). Apparently, most of the kids were pro-vaccine in the class but the teacher was curious. I'd be interested to know how it goes for your daughter. Winnie Re: flu shotVaccinations > This is great, Jim.
