Guest guest
I haven't posted in almost a year but I read all posts almost daily. I have learned so much about this disease and appreciate all the support everyone gives. This is such a hard disease for people to understand especially since most have never heard of it. It is so good to know that there are people who know what I am going through. I have been symptomatic since 2005 but did not get diagnosed until 2009. I lost my job and insurance last year due to my illness and have not been able to get the medical care that I need to control my PsA since(I also have RA according to 2 rheumys)so I have been very interested in reading about how diet changes, exercise and supplements are helpful. I have been on Humira, but due to severe recurrent infections I am unable to take and felt sicker anyway. I am allergic to prednisone and my body does not react well to NSAIDs. I have been taking MTX (20mg) but don't really feel much relief with that. Stress has been a huge factor in my life this year as I am sure many can understand, which I am sure worsens my symptoms. I am interested if anyone out there knows of a good rheumy in Western North Carolina or of any type of programs to help the uninsured. My husband is disabled due to cardiac problems so he does not have insurance other than Medicare. I was also wondering if anyone has been successful in getting SS disability and how long that process took. I am 48 so regular benefits are a long way off. Just wanted to says thanks again to everyone and their valuable information on this disease.
