Guest guest
I too had it in my ears. I used to wear hearing aids and where the hearing aid mold sat in my ear I had psoriasis. What helped me was airing out my ears and then I also used temovate. Since I stopped wearing hearing aids (I have a cochlear implant now) I have no psoriasis there. Guest guest
I am struggling with the same problem and too have a hearing aid. I have ear drops but they only calm it down. I think too it might be an allergy to the material the hearing aid is made from. My rheumatologist is skeptical.

Guest guest
Just a word of caution to be careful with anything that might turn into an ear infection. I am going to the funeral this weekend of a very good friend who got one that would not go away and ultimately went into his skull, then his brain, causing horrific pain and extreme dementia type behavior. He lived in Kentucky and at one point, they even called in someone from the Centers for Disease Control but couldn't figure out precisely what bacteria/virus/whatever that was causing the problem. And my daughter just developed cellulitis from a simple little splinter! Lots of stuff out there now and not all of it responding readily to treatment so don't ignore anything that seems even a little bit strange or doesn't clear up within a reasonable length of time. Guest guest
As someone said in reply to the question about eyes, it is important to make sure there isn't something going on in yours ears. Fungal and bacterial infections can cause these same symptoms. Patty
Guest guest
I also have some trouble with psoriasis in my ears, specially the left one. I try to flush out any loose debris using the shower head. The water has to be at a temperature as close as possible to your body, otherwise you will feel dizzy for a while after this procedure. But when the psoriasis got too strong, eventually my left ear clogged up completely, and no amount of shower flushing would clear it. So I went to the ear doctor (please excuse me for refusing to spend the rest of the day spelling out the infinitely long name of that specialty!), and he used the mother of all syringes to pump water into my ear and flush out the accumulated debris. From the way he did it, I'm pretty sure you could use a firefighter's hose to do that, without causing damage, as long as the water has the right temperature! Since then, I'm still flushing out my ears under the shower whenever I feel loose stuff in them. So far, no further visit to that doctor with the long specialty has been necessary. The general advice is to not poke anything in your ears, not even your finger. It's probably hard to get deep enough to do any serious damage, but you won't be able to do anything good either. You will simply push debris deeper in, where it is harder to get out. And in this regard, the hearing aid might be a problem, but I have no experience with them. I still hear very well. At least SOMETHING that works like it should! ;-) Manfred.
Guest guest
Hi Blondie60644, I think I have psoriasis in my ears too, Have you talked to a dermatologist? You will probably have more luck with a derm. then you are with your rheumy. I have not even mentioned my ears to my rheumy, I just live with it. Guest guest
Hi, In addition to the suggestions that have made the rounds, one I have would be to consider the direct application of selenium (liquid), as on a QTip and dabbing it. There was a report in the British Journal of Dermatology some time ago that the direct application of selenium on psoriasis-affected areas was one of the best ways to combat it. I don't know how long someone should give it a go before expecting an improvement. The British J of D article was from 1987, and perhaps would be online. It may contain the details of how often to use, etc. If anyone is really interested in selenium application but wants the article and can't find it online, send out a request, and I may be able to find it at a local medical school library. As for finding liquid forms of selenium, they would likely be available in better health food stores. Whole Foods is not a health food store, but carries it, as I was looking myself recently. Guest guest
I went to the urgent care and saw a PA. Treated it just like a normal ear infection. I have had ear infections for 55 years and this is not like that. I have a new GP I'm seeing in July and I will bring it up to them. My husband doesn't have psoriasis but also gets something similar in the ear with his hearing aid. It gets better when we keep the hearing aids out but then we can't hear. Thanks,
Guest guest
Yes, I have had the flushing done in the past by my ENT. I may have to go that route to get relief. I know what you mean about the buildup. Thanks for the info, Manfred. Blondie
