Guest guest
Hello kgasior2@..., In reference to your comment: .. Could 1/4 of a banana really create such a mess? For me yes! I can't eat fruit at all. One bite of apple comes back. I even tried putting an apple through a food chopper and even mush it came back. Have no idea why this is so. Guest guest
Hello All, My time to complain. Usually I can get to around 4pm on liquids without regurg! Today I had my ensure and tea, but decided to get VERY adventurous and have 1/4 of a banana ... took about 1/2 hour to eat it, so I really did chew. Began the regurg about 10am and cannot seem to keep anything down. I am sipping on decaf green tea and water. It seems like it is staying, then ............... into the bathroom! I have not had a day quite so bad for awhile. Could 1/4 of a banana really create such a mess? I STILL feel like I have a lump in my chest and there could NOT POSSIBLY be anything left there. Any suggestions? I think I will pass on my one solid tonight since the day has literally be " in the toilet " . Oh well, I would like to say I am glad I got that off my chest ........ but I didn't .. it is still there! Kathie (ZEKE)
Guest guest
Hi Kathie, Sorry you were having such a bad day. I hope today is better for you. We all have our good ones and bad ones. Just remember that good ones are coming!!! J Keep smiling!!! My worst incident was getting something stuck on a Wednesday night (this was all before surgery, not since!! ) and it stayed lodged there until Friday night when I jumped in the lake. I think the cold made me really take in my breath or something. Anyways, instantly, I felt it go through. What a great feeling. I ran out of the lake, and ate what I brought my nephew for snacks, as I was sooo hungry. 2 days with no food… that was tough. Drinks very slowly went down, but nothing more than water. Everything else came up, and left the food behind. GRRRR Since surgery, I rarely have food get stuck. If they do, I drink water. It has only once not worked to push the food through. Note: Try jumping in a lake. Maybe the cold will unlodge it Take care, in BC RE: Bad Day Today Hello All, My time to complain. Usually I can get to around 4pm on liquids without regurg! Guest guest
Wow : My husband has been telling me to " go jump in the lake " for years, I never took him seriously! Too bad I am in Pittsburgh ... no lakes available! Today is not much better. I cannot imagine that I have ANYTHING left. Even tea and water are coming back. I am starting to get a bit nervous. I have not kept a solid down for 2 months, but at least the Ensure, yogurt or clear broth have stayed! Not today. I have brought about 1/2 up and am very apprehensive to even try anything for fear it will dislodge the other 1/2. I keep checking about dehydration. I think My Husband is beginning to think that I am paranoid and overreacting ... until I woke him up 7 times during the night last night! Oh well, this too shall pass. I am just VERY grateful that I can lose myself in my work ... which I SHOULD be doing now. Thanks for the kind words. Kathie > Hi Kathie, > > > > Sorry you were having such a bad day. Guest guest
Hi Kathie, Sorry its been such a bad day!. Banana is actually acid [!!!] Because it is so soft you think you have chewed it well but solid bits escape without your knowing it. I need to have bananas for their potassium content but even as a smooothie with sugar and water added they give problems - it seems to 'float' around in my E. I have just given them up as a bad job. This is a long shot - I am guessing now, but perhaps your E is irritable after this and that is why you cannot get anything to stay down. You could try taking an aluminium hydroxide with an added antispasmodic medication. Here the one I take occasionally is called Medigel. Another is Kolantyl with merbetyl. Why not ask you pharmacy what they have and can give you with out a doctor's prescription. Another thing which may just help is motillium - it is usually used for an irritable bowel, but might just work here. I am counting the days with you ! Big hugs, Joan RE: Bad Day Today > > > Hello All, > My time to complain. > Usually I can get to around 4pm on liquids without regurg! Guest guest
I also find Gaviscon is helpful in relieving the irritation. > Hi Kathie, > Sorry its been such a bad day!. Any > suggestions as to what I should do?? > _______________________________________ Are there any accommodations that your employer can make to enable you to work more efficiently? Perhaps frequent small breaks can help. I don't know what work you do, but maybe you could come up with a list of things to accommodate your disability and still allow you to work. Here in California we have the Department of Fair Employment and Housing which works with the disabled on workplace accommodation. Maybe there is a state agency where you live. You might also want to contact the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the area in which you live to determine if that agency can help. And, of course, you can talk to an employment lawyer to find out your rights. Many will give an initial consultation for free. I'm not a lawyer, but I believe that people have a right to reasonable accommodation in their work environment for their disability.
Guest guest
I am so glad this group is here. I feel very alone sometimes. I am still working because my rheumy is afraid to write me out of work. His words " that's a legal document " and the job is killing me. Today the pain was so bad that I was in tears and I had to take more pain pills than I like. They kind of fog my mind and I am handling money so I'm concerned that I will give back too much change or miscount the deposit. My gp referred me to pain management which can't get me in till May and that is a world away. I guess I just needed to complain. Does anyone have some cheese to go with my whine?? LOL I really need to quit the job but without a dr's letter I am afraid it will make it impossible to get disability. but on the other hand-I know the job is causing the problem and making the PA worse. Any suggestions as to what I should do??
Guest guest
Unless he has a good reason why he's unwilling to sign such a letter or give you some good reason why you should keep working despite your pain, I'd get another doctor. Maybe he's just a coward and is afraid to assign his name to a " legal " document. Maybe he thinks your're exaggerating. Maybe he has reason to think things will get better. I can't read his mind but would sure push him or go elsewhere. Joanna Hoelscher 630-833-7361
