I read on here from another poster that said that it took 18 months to get a

diagnosis. I suffered a similar experience. It took the better part of a year

to get diagnosed. After mri's, xrays, and blood tests, the doctor told me I was

addicted to pain medication. I had a very hard time getting a referral to a

rheumatologist. When I finally got to a rhuematologist, he told me that my

story is not uncommon. According to him, doctors aren't taught much about

arthritis in med school, unless they are training to be a rhuematologist. My

question is this: How common is this? How many here have had experiences like

this?
