Guest guest
Hi All, It's been quite a while since I've posted. My original question almost a yr ago was in regards to breastfeeding, being off meds, pain relief and flairs etc.....well I thought for those investigating I should write my experience. I had been off Sulfasalzine for almost 2 yrs as that's how long it took us to conceive a healthy pregnancy. In any case, we had our boy in January via c-section. My joints had actually been quite good near the end of the pregnancy...had quite a lot of flairs around the 4 mth mark. After talking w/ the pharmacist who specialized in arthritis meds etc...she had said this: no Advil in the first trimester, only Tylenol. but safest was Tylenol all together w/ a max dose of 4,000mg/day. I really didn't feel good w/ taking anything, so unless it was really bad, I took nothing. I used hydrotherapy, massage and stayed away from sugar/milk. I went into a terrible flair after the surgery, which got me to stop breastfeeding by 3mths to go back on Sulfasalazine and actually an anti-inflam for 3 mths. Now, that my babe is 9mths I have actually gone off all meds again(2mths now) and started a better diet and workout routine. Yoga, light weights, at least 45min of cardio (low impact) and I have to say I feel better then i have in years. The factors that help are definitely staying away from yeast products, sugar, alcohol, caffeine and I absolutely MUST do cardio. We do want to try to get pregnant in the new year, hence going off the meds again. They can cause birth defects etc...don't want to take the risk as you are suppose to go off them 2-3 mths before you start trying again. Anyway, I hope my experience can help someone else out there who may be in the same predicament. Be well all!
