Guest guest
I know that getting our kids healthy is the priority and it DOES take an incredible amount of energy just managing day to day. However, litigation may also be one of the tools in our arsenal for helping others with Lyme now and in the future. And for those who have a strong case I wouldn't necessarily shy away from it (caveat: I'm only talking about those whose attorney unequivocally believes they have a strong case). I am personally in the midst of a law suit against a summer camp that did not take precautions either to attempt to reduce tick population (within reason) nor did sufficient Lyme education. As a result me and my kids got Lyme and so did many others at the camp (and though there will always be some who do get it, I for one would have taken care of my then 1.75 and 3 year old -- I didn't do a single tick check in 9 weeks and there were deer EVERYWHERE.) Had I known I would have 1) not gone; 2) taken extreme precautions. Anyway, even if we do not win the case (and I think we have a good shot at winning), the insurance company that insures most of the camps in the state will for sure insist that the camps they insure take more precautions since they know how expensive this disease is. So..bottom line is I hope some good comes out of this regardless of our personal outcome. Thanks, Beth beth@...
