Guest guest
We definately changed the way we ate. It was ery important for us and still is. We avoided most carbs. We were able to have barley and brown rice and we found a great bread product called ezekiel bread. They also make tortillas and waffles. Cutting out sugar was really important too. We were ok with fruit but nothing with white sugar. We also limited our juice intake. When we had those things our fatigue, pain and brain fog got severe. Getting enough sleep and rest were also important. We used and she still uses fresh lime or lemon water for herx's. I've gotten crap for mentioning that on here but it worked for us. My daughter also uses 10 drops of parsley extract in water every 10 minutes. Sometimes that works sometimes not. B12 shots really helped her with energy and glutathione helps her a real lot with herxing. So those are the things that were really important for us to recover. We were both on a pretty heavy duty ab regimin before switching to the herbs though. Feel free to email me directly too. Annie can I ask you if you and your daughter also did dietary changes to support your recovery (like eating raw food, avoiding grains, etc) or detox methods like FIR saunas? Or did you both get better just with herbals? I'm trying to decide how much more to change my lifestyle in order to succeed. I do think I will be trying the Shor practice in March as they can assess me for herbals. > >Thanks so much for your info.! > > > >> >> > >> > >> > Does anyone know of a good source for finding out more about who is >> > succeeding on Cowden, what types of people are good candidates, how well >> > they do (what specifically can it resolve, what is left unresolved, long >> > term prognosis--do they often end up back on abx? etc). Guest guest
Hi Annie -- Dr H in CA recommends lemon juice in water too for herxing. Actually, he sayds to squeeze half a lemon into the water and then put the whole rind in to steep for a little while. It helps us too. Alka Seltzer Gold seems to work prety well too, esp in combination with glutathione. Guest guest
Yes, lemon water helps plus I do hot baths w/ a cup, or more, of Epsom Salts. Drink water while in the tub and stay in for at least 20 minutes. Don't forget to rinse off afterward. Guest guest
With the alka selzer gold you just take it the way it instructs on the package. The glutathione can be taken orally. It helps the body get rid of the toxins made by the die off of the spirochetes. My daughter needs alot so she gets it everyday through her port. You're doc can tell you how much she should take and in what form. I would do the fresh lemon or lime drink right away though. That helps my daughter like you would not believe. We squeeze a lime and put it in a water bottle, fill it up and add Agave Necter to sweeten it. I prefer the taste of Stevia. Good luck! I know the herx's are rough. I continually remind us that the herx's mean the meds are working. So even though it stinks it's a really good thing. All my best, Annie >Thanks for the book rec. and Annie for sharing your experience with >Cowden. Guest guest
I didn't buy anything special. I just picked up one at our local health food store. You can probably even get some through an online place like Puritains Pride. >Thanks for the book rec. and Annie for sharing your experience with >Cowden. Guest guest
i have heard that people get glutathoine at the health food strore. i get it by researched nutritionals thru my llnd it is called liposomal glutathoine. also, with the alka seltzer gold, make sure your antibiotics don't say to stay away from antacids as mine do, i think you need to take 2 hrs. away from each other but check with pharmacist.
