My 17 year-old daughter's LLMD prescribed two Culturelle twice a day and one

saccharomyces boulardii twice a day as her probiotics regimen. Culturelle can be

found in any drugstore, but I find the best prices when I search online. The

saccharomyces boulardii needs to be refrigerated. I shop online for those as

well and they arrive with an ice pack in the box.

I am not familiar with Theralac. Perhaps your niece's doctor can advise if she

should take that.

I wish you, your children and your niece all well as you heal.

My children 12 and 10 are both on antibiotics and they both take culturelle and

flourastor twice a day.  We also supplement them with theralac several times a

week instead of every day since it is quite pricey. They are doing pretty well,

all considered. I can't say I've noticed any difference in the amount of viruses

they get.

My daughter's LLND suggested she take Theralac, so I think it's fine for kids.

We couldn't get it easily in Canada at that point so instead used some good

quality Canadian brands that were suggested to us. My daughter also takes

saccromyces boulardi. One thing that I think has helped her as well is giving a

probiotic dose at night, just before I go to bed (I break open capsules and put

them into liquid -- usually some yoghurt drink, then into a syringe and she

actually doesn't really even wake up for the dose). I figure that way it has all

night to help her digestive system. We do the kid's chewable ones at various

points in the day -- I keep them in our car so that anytime we are on our way

somewhere she takes a few. (We're in a cold climate, so they also stay

refrigerated.)
