Yes, PsA can indeed damage your lungs.  It has mine, I have scarring verified by

CAT scan that is attributed to the inflammation of the PsA by my pulmonologist.

It is treated with COPD meds, I have a chronic cough and shortness of breath as

a result.

Thanks Sheri. I'm just starting to get my lungs investigated since going to a

new doctor. I have had a chronic cough for four years and especially in the last

six months or so a lot of shortness of breath. I've never been on MTX, or

anything stronger than anti inflamatories and asthma puffers. I had a chest

x-ray today (though it looks pretty normal to me so I'll be surprised if they

see anything unusual.) I go and see the doc on Monday to show her the x-ray and

see what she has to say.

I've found that because I'm female and have never smoked they seem reluctant to

take my lungs seriously. The thing is, there is no asthma in my family, and I

never had a problem with my lungs until about four years ago...around the time

when I started to get a lot of joint pain and tiredness, weakness etc... I was

diagnosed with Hashimotos hypothyroidism (autoimmune) psoriasis, and then about

two years ago was diagnosed with asthma and then fibromyalgia. Now I'm wondering

if most of it has been to do with PsA. I've yet to get a diagnosis of PsA

though. If I do have asthma I believe it is caused by something else going on

in my body...maybe PsA? I just don't know. All I know is that my lungs just

suddenly got bad for some reason and are slowly getting worse.

Its like pieces of a puzzle, and you don't know what the final picture is

supposed to be.
