Guest guest
I have a love/hate relationship with MTX. I feel totally blah (headache, nausea, extreme fatigue) for about 18-24 hours after each weekly dose of MTX (whether via shot or oral tablets) but if I don't take it, my PsA runs out of control. I've tried just taking the Humira without the MTX, but the improvement is not as significant as the two combined. Antiinflammatories alone did not stop disease progression. Guest guest
Holly, I have been taking methotrexate for 10 years now. Started out with the pill form and then went to self injection. Also take folic acid tabs along with it. It has done me very well. No problems what so ever. I do believe that the low dose we take for psoriatic arthritis is as safe as anything out there today. I might mention that i am 77years old and do just fine Also have fibromyalgia. Good luck to you God bless Joanne
Guest guest
Interesting that he went straight to methotrexate if your psa is moderate. All rheumatologists are different, but mine started me on anti anti-inflammatory and sulfazine first, noting he would only move to methotrexate if that didn't work. So far, its worked (4 years) cheers tom
Guest guest
RE: Feeling blah after your weekly metho dose. It always made a huge difference for me once my rheumy prescribed 1 mg of Folic Acid to be taken every day except the day of the Metho dosing It stops the absorption. Hope this helps S
Guest guest
Why do you take Humira w/MTX? The dr. just talked about MTX. How quickly does it relieve the psoriasis?
Guest guest
I am on an anti-inflammatory that he increased. I think he referred to it as a class 1 drug. If that doesn't help in 2-3 wks, he will change to MTX. I am so done with this psoriasis though. It has got to go Any suggestions that help? Guest guest
Holly and all, This past year I had two major surgeries which seemed to really kick my psoriasis into high gear. It is the worst I have ever had and I am thinking it is from lack of exercise and stress. I have just started trying " DOO GRO " after seeing it on youtube. For sure along with salt baths that stuff has made my patches much smoother and about 75% less red. The plaque still comes, but not quite as bad after just rubbing a bit of the oil on once a day. I use kenalog in the sensitive areas which helps when applied Every day, and Clobetasol on the regular skin areas which seems to of lost effectiveness. I have been on Enbrel for almost 5 years and am thinking of trying a different bio now. For the 5 to 7 bucks, the doo gro is well worth a try.. let me know your results if you decide to try it. It is only vitamins, botanical oil and herb formula. Danny
