Guest guest
Hi Ginger, I'm sorry my suggestion didn't help ... but glad to hear that there was a happy ending I'm sure you're both glad the two weeks is over. is a trooper! I've been sticking to your program and enjoying it and have been having great results(I'm aware it's such early days for me). So I thought I would re-add a little intimacy to my regimen. I got a little flare up, not too bad, treated it with an acidophilus douche and some coconut oil. But I'd rather not get a flare at all. Guest guest
It's also possible that a sex partner is passing on a prostate infection. I had that problem(prostate). But I'd rather not get a flare at all. ==>, the cells of your body need to be reconstructed with 50% saturated fats, thus the natural fats, and as you work on curing your candida there will be less and less toxins which make the cells go rigid - these two things will make the cells stronger. Lubrication during sex is important too - try coconut oil. You did the right thing douching. Bee
Guest guest
> > I am a Nurse and I believe your partner can also have yeast and pass it on to you. ==>Deb, yeast is not contagious. It happens only within each person's own body due to a depressed immune system. You couldn't " catch " yeast from someone else any more than you could " catch " their nutrient deficiencies. Read more about candida in my article and do a site search on my new web site. Bee

Guest guest
You are probably right, but we are always told in Nursing school that you can get a yeast infection from your partner. Deb
Guest guest
Bee, I was not sure about Candida but I had read that a bacterial prostate infection can infect the vagina during intercourse. Sorry if I goofed. ==>No problem . In fact no one can " catch " any germs, bacteria, viruses from anyone else. They are created within the body to handle toxins - see articles on the germ theory of diseases at: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu5_3_1.php Bee

Guest guest
Hi, I rarely post but I'm definitely a reader. I have PA diagnosed in my hips and right SI joint. In the last year it has manifested to my neck. Next week I expect to have it confirmed in my feet as well. This month has been awful. The cold weather isn't helping and I am in the most pain of my life- pretty impressive since I've has this for 11 years (started in my teens). I currently take nabumetone (1500mg x2/day). My doctor called in Ultram for the increased pain. The ultram doesn't seem to help - it just makes me have nausea. In the last 4 weeks I have gone from walking several miles a day to having trouble walking from a parking lot to the front door of a building. I can no longer climb stairs. Is it time for me to push for the biologics? I've never taken them and the side effects will be hard to balance around my graduate school. Also, should I push my doctor for a handicap tag? She has always been very vocal about me exercising and wholly discouraged me using a cane (ahh back when the pain was only on my right side... - who knew I'd miss those days?). I want to say she has been a great doctor overall. Thanks for your thoughts,
Guest guest
Hi , I would definitely look into the biologics and a handicap tag and a cane, it sounds like you are getting worse and need to go to the next level to manage this disease and your pain. Guest guest
, YES!! Push for biologics! Note the continued negative progression of the disease and joint damage and losing the quality of life. And ask for a handicap parking sticker. Perhaps say you would prefer to get your exercise in a controlled environment. Perhaps check with your DMV first so you can take needed paperwork with you. Sounds like you need to assert yourself with this doctor. Been in a similar situation. Good luck! -Eileen
Guest guest
Thank you to everyone for the responses. My PA has definitely been mild for the first 10 years but the last 2 have been steadily getting more challenging. My x-rays do not correlate that well with my pain though - only my SI join and right hip show degeneration (so far). I haven't been too fussed about asking for biologics because my pain was decently controlled with NSAIDs (and for several years with just OTC) but it has now gotten to the point where one will work for about 3-6mo and then it stops having affect. I suspect the recent flare has been related to a huge increase in my stress levels- I traveled abroad and had my passport stolen. Staying an extra few days in London and flying home to immediately start grad school seems to have sent my body into a spiral that I can't break (this flare has been happening since basically New Year's). This is the first flare where the pain has routinely woken me up and it has made my romantic life rather nonexistent. So between school, pain, fatigue from lack of sleep and no " fun " with my partner, I am even more stressed - I hate the cycle. I will say - my husband has been very supportive. Which then makes me feel a bit guilty. He knew about the PA but this is the first flare that has really interfered with our day-to-day living. Regarding the handicap tag- I am frankly embarrassed - I am only 28 and I just hate the thought of dealing with the looks and stares when a young woman gets out of the car. I have checked the laws in my state and have the form. My family very much feel I need to ask for the placard after watching how bad this month has been. However if I could get this pain to ease off, I wouldn't be too worried about walking. Thanks again, I appreciate the feedback.
Guest guest
Hi , Perhaps you could get the placard and only use it when your " spoons " are in short supply. Just because you have it, it doesn't mean you need to use it. If you haven't read spoon theory, you can find it at butyoudontlooksick.com Here's the link if our editor will allow it: http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory\ -written-by-christine-miserandino/ All the best, brent -
Guest guest
, Please get the handicap sticker. You need to take really good care of your body right now. Also, have you tried prednisone. I know others, and frankly myself, do not like some of the side effects of pred but if used correctly and short term it can be extremely helpful. I needed to use it to " break " the inflammation until I could get a biologic in my system. I know it is hard to think that you have to change your life a bit, slow down, get the stress under control. It will help you in the long run. Guest guest
Hi, So my appointment yesterday went ok. My doctor gave me a temporary handicap permit and is very optimistic we can break the current pain cycle. She has switched me to Naprosen twice a day and Ultram has been upped substantially. I will be back in a month to see if this course is helping. I think my doctor is also realizing just how many drugs I have tried - I've only been with her for 2 years. This is because for the first few years I was treated by an orthopedist and then did 3 years with a rheumatologist prior to her. I've got a membership with a pool and am trying to schedule time around my graduate school to get to the pool for some non-weight bearing exercise. I know it will help my stress and my joints - if I don't stress out from the time away from studying. My foot- the doctor thinks it isn't the PA but a neuroma on the nerve. *Delightful*. I am being referred to a podiatrist and a quick google search indicates the ultimate treatment is surgery. (imagining crutches with my bad hips...) I am not going to press for biologics until after this round of NSAIDs. After researching arthritis (professionally, not just personally), I understand why biologics help but I also understand why NSAIDs are also helpful. I also know I will have this disease for the rest of my life and I have to balance my quality of life around my goals. I am using the handicap tag today. Thankfully no one was around to see it... I appreciate everyone's thoughts - they are very helpful.
