Guest guest
The only thing I can think would be if your child was a strep carrier - they think one of mine is as she has tested positive when not even really having a sore throat..........but I dont remember that happening when she was already on ABX - interesting.........hope others can give you more information............... This past week they both unexpectedly tested positive for strep A infection. They were already on zithromax for a few weeks as part of their protocol. Has anyone else had this pop up? Both kids were NOT showing the usual sore throat, fever, white spots in back of throat symptoms. My daughter was having chest pains with no known cause and I noticed one enlarged lymph on her neck so I asked for strep tests. Any shared experience of Lyme and Strep would be helpful. Guest guest
My daughter had strep multiple times during her Lyme years. We would add or change abx . At one point, she was scheduled for Tonsil/adnoid surgery, but I cancelled because she was too sick with the Lyme. As the Lyme got better, the frequent strep got less, then disappeared. Our sick kids don't have great immune systems. For her, not getting wiped out with every little cold, or not getting strep all of the time was a sign/step of recovery from the Lyme. She was thrilled the first time she felt like a " normal person would with a cold. " Sue
Guest guest
Mine went for regular lab work and it came back with strep bacteria levels 3 times what is " normal " . She also as on abx and didn't show any signs of strep throat. Strep is normally in the body. If I remember correctly, the strep bacteria that causes strep throat is different from what is normally in the body. When the bacteria that are in the body multiply (such as in my daughter's case), there are other effects (increased heart rate for one), and not necessarily strep throat. Guest guest
This happened to my son also. Are your kids showing any psychiatric symptoms? Guest guest
Not really psychiatric symptoms although it's hard to tell what is normal teen behavior and what is caused by all these infections. There is some moodiness, frustration, lack of energy. My son has cognitive problems, memory problems, stamina, etc.. My daugheter has nerve pain issues in both legs which is now being called Complex Regional Pain Syndrom (CRPS or RSD) > > This happened to my son also. Guest guest
My son has little patience..flies off the handle easily, and has little concentration. Of course I attribute that to the fact that he is achy and fatigued........most ALL of the time! Guest guest
Thats how I feel with my 13 yr old son. My other son who is 25 now and never had lyme didnt have the attitude and temper and nastiness this one has. Now they want me to see a neurologist and get a brain mri. His level went from 6.75 on the IGG to 4.47 and on the IGM from 4.17 to 3.21. But his hemoglobin and hematocrit (Dehyration?) are up now. His MCHc (?) is low. (Anemia ?). Inf. dis. wont do more treatment, they dont base it on his levels. They say he'll always be like that. I think thats BS. Its so frustrating. So maybe the mri will show if he still has lyme meningitis. i dont know anymore.
