Our daughter was on for almost 5 months, and she was struggling the whole time

with effects -- got better, went off it, and that was in September. Now she is

slowly declining so we have her out of school and are trying to evaluate. Her

LLMD thinks it may be a mold issue. Argh.

Subject: [ ] IV length of time

Hi,

My son is about to start IV rocephin so I've been looking into it. I think

the " protocol " says 4 weeks; however a friend of mine was on it 7 months. I

asked her how her doctor decided on that length of time and she said he

monitored her lyme levels (I don't know which exact test) and kept her on it

until the levels had gone down enough (again, I don't know details, like

what was " enough " ).

She struggled w/cognitive problems and had tried various oral antibiotics

with spotty results. The oral rocephin seems to have cured her -- she did

it 3 years ago, and so far no relapses.

I live in Dutchess County NY (not far from Hyde Park!) so Lyme is relatively

common.

I've been doing internet research and it is grim -- I think people who've

had bad experiences tend to post more than people who had an uncomplicated

time and are cured, which gives you a skewed picture.

Anyway, hope that is helpful.

I had the Iv for 3 months. The plan was for 6 months, but I got pregnant. So we

are going to continue the Iv after the baby is born. I had no problems. I

" Loved " my IV. It made me feel like myself again!!! My doc knew how long he

wanted to have it in. He said as long as I have had lyme and my issues...atleast

6 months! He always stressed he didnt want to pull it early. The Iv gave me (

which we can all be different) More energy and I could " think " so much better!!
