Guest guest
Hey . I get the same thing from time to time. I think it's because of the joint pain affecting the muscles in my neck and shoulders and it goes to my head so to speak. they gave me some mild muscle relaxers but doesn't seem to help. The only thing that helps is some exercise believe it or not. And my rhuemy told it me it would. I've had P for close to 30 years and PA for about the last 6 or so. Hope this helps. If you want any more info, let me know. In 30 years I have a bunch....believe me!!!!! Herbie
Guest guest
, I do get severe headaches at times with my flares. I have noticed that the headache and the flare is sometime correlated with my menstrual cycle. Sometimes I think hormonal changes can trigger things. I don't know exactly what causes what: hormones causes headache and flare or just the flare which causes the headache. I would suggest charting her symptoms and seeing if there is any correlation. I have also found that I am very sensitive to changes in my diet when it comes to flares. I definitely have more trouble ie pain and swelling if I am not eating right. I am sorry your daughter has to deal with this at such a young age. I hope she finds the best possible relief for her. Patty
Guest guest
hi, i will get headaches too from my neck and around the front of the face. the only pain meds that worked for me was ponstel. when i feel a headache coming on i take one and it is gone. the headaches would be so severe i couldn't even lift my head up from a pillow. laying down with a heating pad was the only thing that helped until i got the ponstel. i have the psa in the neck and spine, so when i get a start of the flare the headaches come on. hope that helps. sue
Guest guest
One of the things that finally drove me to see my doctor (other than the swelling in my feet which was not going down) was the loss of mobility in my neck due to pain. I couldn't turn my head more than about 10 degrees in either direction: made driving rather difficult! I do have PsA in my neck and to add to my woes there I tend to " store " any stress in my neck and shoulders, leading to chronically tight muscles. I have found the only thing to really work is a professional massage. Stretching helps also. At its worst, however, I couldn't even lean over the sink to spit out toothpaste without getting an agonizing stabbing pain in the back of my neck and head. It was enough to take my breath away and all I could do was wait for the pain to pass. I'm on MTX + Celebrex + Humira and am doing wonderfully well compared to last year when I was first diagnosed. Last year I figured I'd be in a wheelchair in a couple of years; now I don't even need a stick to walk! Hope this is helpful. Debbie
