Guest guest
My daughter hasn't had any accidents, however she needs to urinate every 20 - 30 minutes and sometimes more frequently. This occurred over the last two months when she was off abx also, so in our case I consider it Lyme caused. She is 15 yrs old. Charlotte iamwhimsy@... http://whimsy.t35.com [ ] Incontinence issues Has anyone's child had incontinence issues? Bladder, bowel, or both? I've read that Lyme can cause this, but I've read about antibiotics causing it also. My son has never had this type of problem since potty training shortly after turning 3, but recently has had several accidents, mostly urinary, but one bowel accident too. He is almost 6 now. He has had Lyme for almost 2 years, but was just recently diagnosed and has been on abx for approx. 6 weeks now. The incontinence problems started recently, so I was thinking it was the abx, but wondered if it could be due to the Lyme being 'stirred up' by the abx (if that makes sense). Any thoughts?? Guest guest
My son only had this problem (with bowel accidents) at one point in treatment when we tried to give him zyth twice a day. He had a couple of accidents and we spoke to the doctor. He was put back on zyth just once a day and had no more problems after that. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Our daughter does not have any accidents, but she has urine frequency too. Seems to be getting slightly better with Lyme, Bart treatment. She is 14. Guest guest
My son also had never had issues after normal potty training but just before diagnosis, about age 10, he wet the bed twice over a few months time. That's my only experience. Haven't had any more issues once treatment started. Guest guest
That happened to my daughter when she was 10 and the doctor said it was probably from babesia -- or bartonella -- I can't remember. Guest guest
Both of my sons had major bladder issues -- mostly gone with treatment of Lyme and Babesia. It has been our experience that Babesia is significantly correlated to bladder issues/incontinence. When our sons have Babesia flares, we often know it from the " accidents " that occur. We first noticed this connection when we treated with Malarone, and the bladder problems disappeared - this repeated each time we had flares. When you first start the Babesia meds, there is often an increase of the symptoms, and we did see these issues get worse for a few days and then disappear. Lyme also loves the bladder, but it seems the combination of Lyme and Babesia really do a number on the bladder. Hope this helps!
