Guest guest
Hi Group, I feel bad for not posting for so long, but arthritis moved into my hands and it's made being on the computer harder than ever. I saw my rheumy yesterday and he said the inflammation is running wild right now in my body and he wants me to try Oriencia, for PA. I know it's normally only approved for RA, but there has been a lot of controversy between my doctors on whether I'm dealing with PA or RA, or both. So he thinks he can get it approved. From what I've read about this drug, my biggest problem is going to be the fact that I have COPD. My lungs have been really clear though since last January when I caught a bad chest infection from my daughter over Christmas. I also had really severe reactions to Humira, Enbrel and Methotrexate. I ended up in congestive hearth failure, and my lungs have never been the same from taking Humira, even though it was only 10 days. I also know my doctor plans on monitoring me after taking this new drug for several hours to make sure no reaction occurs. I guess all that sounds pretty depressing and you wonder why I would even try a new strong drug that hasn't even been approved for PA yet? I guess it's reached the point where I'm so desperate I'm ready to give up without trying something new. I'm on pain meds, and they help some, and I probably wouldn't make it withtout them, but they don't take away all the pain. Let's face it nothing really ever does. I also need a double knee replacement as soon as possible, but my diabetes has been out of control as well, mainly due to my use of predisone, and that's not good for surgery, but then neither is Oriensa either. I think the idea is to hope this cuts the inflammation back and then go off of it once my sugar is ok and then I can have the surgery. I'm not an easy patient as far as my health goes to say the least, but I have a great doctor and I totally trust him. Any advice on this drug would be great. Thanks again adn I hope everyone h as a wonderful holdiay. Love, Fran staying warm in Florida
Guest guest
I did not have luck with Orcenia. Was on it for approx. 8 months. For the first 6 months remained on steroids . When they took me off the steroids, the flare ups were the worst I think I ever had. Inflammation was unbelievable, and the psoriasis became terrible. On my face, groin, etc on top of all the other places. But I gave it a try, and am now back on Enbrel. It is not working as well as the first time I was on it a few years back. But it seems to work the best of them for me. Remicade didn't work either, that was when I went back on the steriods. I wish you luck. I am always willing to try something new if the pain is so bad I cant take it anymore. Let me know how it works for you. God bless Happy Holidays Joyce
Guest guest
Hi, Fran! I don't have any answers to your questions but just wanted to say how good it is to hear from you again - I missed you. I'm sorry to hear how rough things have been. I hope that something, Orencia or something else, will be able to help. Keep us posted if you can. And know that whether you post often or not, you are not forgotten! best regards, sherry z > > Hi Group, I feel bad for not posting for so long, but arthritis > moved >
Guest guest
Fran, I'm new to this group and wish I could offer you some help! The more I read about PA the stupider I feel! I have just begun to ask some questions and learn what I can. My doc (dermatologist) suggested Humira but I'm quite hesitant to start it. In the meantime I'm going to try some supplements. One that I used to reduce inflammation after knee surgery (it helped tremendously) and a couple others that I've known about and used but used them half-heartedly. I hope very much for you that you will find some answers. > I saw my rheumy yesterday and he said the inflammation is running >wild right now in my body and he wants me to try Oriencia, for PA.
