Guest guest
Hi all - I realize this is purely conjecture, but the last two springs I have been on weekly injections for my P and PA. It has all but cleared my skin and the PA is hiding itself. However, living in Georgia now, I am again in the presence of the dreaded club-leafed oak, bane of my allergy existence for a lifetime. My new house is surrounded by them, they are absolutely belching pollen (120 would be a high count, last week we registered a reading of 5700+). I used to have a red teuck. It's now yellow. I used to have a yellow house with a brown deck. Now I have a yellow house and a yellow deck. It's so thick in the air you can taste it breathing through your nose. But I haven't sneezed once. Everyone here with allergies is absolutely in agony and I'm completely unfazed by it (not that I'm complaining, mind you). Is it possible that the Humira has suppressed my immune system to the point that I'm no longer allergic? I used to be constantly congested from airborne allergens all year long but would be the most miserable in the early spring when the trees bloom. To the point that if my allergies or a cold would come on I'd have to call my dr. to get prophylactic antibiotics to ward off the inevitable sinus infection. But this year...nothing. Not even a tickle. Anybody else have any experience with this?
Guest guest
: when I was on Enbrel, I had the same experience. All my allergies went away and I was amazed and asked my internist about it. She said allergies are an immunological condition and any drug meant to suppress the immune system can have the effect you're experiencing. One of the few " benefits " of having this disease!!!!! Guest guest
I have to say that I " may " have experienced the same thing. I have been on MTX for over 6 years and previous to taking MTX, I always had allergies in the Spring. I took OTC meds and even prescription meds. I didn't attribute my lack of allergies the last 6 years to MTX, but to the " old wives " tale about your body changing every several years, I had assumed that I had outgrown or changed again. But it DOES coincide with starting MTX. While a drastic way to overcome allergy symptoms, It does seem to work! Stay Well,
