Guest guest
I have been on 12.5 mg MTX per week since January, yes I had some side effects at the beginning, however I am fine with it now. I would not fear the meds, fear the disease! In my opinion the side effects from MTX are tolerable. I had some nausea which I alleviated with ginger tea, and also a bit sleepy the following day, but that was it. For me it works great, I have approx 75% less pain and stiffness then I did before MTX, and I also take Ibuprofen 600mg 3-4 times a day or as needed. It's not perfect but it is a huge relief. Since you are planning on having a baby next spring MTX will not be the drug for you at this time anyway. You need to speak with your OB/GYN and your Rheumy about this and get them to figure out together what the best treatment plan for you will be to get you through your pregnancy. I have read that many women experience a remission during pregnancy, so hopefully that would be the case for you. Good Luck, Deanna
