Hello all!

I promised my dh I would take it easy today, but I wanted to take a

minute to post a note and tell those who were kind enough to share

their exp with epidural/spinal injections how it went yesterday, as

well as anyone else who may be considering it. I think my own fears,

this being the first one, were stressing me out more than anything.

Added to that was all the meds, herbs, supps, that I have not been

allowed to take since 10 days before the procedure and then afterwards

yesterday was asked to stay off of a few days so we can see how I

respond to the epidural injections. I was told up front that it could

kick in right away, not for a few days, or not for a week!! For some,

the first (or none) never kick in at all.

The dr and nurses in short stay were great! I did not feel much pain

from the injection itself in the C-spine, but you have to lay on your

stomach and stay very still with no massage table space to put your

face into, so that was quite uncomfortable. Also, I have shoulder

problems that made some of the positioning in the beginning quite

uncomfortable.

I felt the one in my lower thoracic a lot more!! I knew he was there

for that one and it felt like the meds were rolling right down into my

right hip joint!! Funny/strange feeling. When I was trying to dress

after, I bent over to pick up my shoes and got a good headrush --

oops! oncoming headache? Turned out I was fine until the sedatives

wore off and have since been battling epidural induced headache and

nausea. It's better, but I am pretty much my same old achy self this

PM. Trying to take it easy, but have already reached my limit on the

laptop today!

The biggest change seems to be sort of an upbeat, more motivated quick

in my step and urge to try to do some of the things that always induce

pain, esp things I really used to enjoy, I'm a bit cautious at the

moment and feeling good about choosing to give it a try!
