Guest guest
Dear Angie, From experience, even if you aren't comfortable with Arava, try to find something you think the side effects are worth the risk of taking the pills. Not taking anything can and almost always does just allow the disease to progress to the point where you need new joints or your over all health goes down so quickly you can't even handle the surgery. I didn't go without treatment due to being afraid of the drugs, my pain was too bad, to just ignore it. The problem was it took them 3 years to figure out what was wrong with me (and I probably had it for several years before I realized the pain was unbearable from also having fibro) and then several more years before I found I could even take Arava. Now that Arava is wearing off on me, I'm back on the try a new drug roller coaster. It's not a fun thing to do especially when you are allergic to a lot of medication. Having joints that don't work, tendons and ligaments tear, rip and inflame isn't a cake walk either. Not having to take any medication is always ideal, but just ignoring the disease won't stop the spreading or the destruction of your joints either. I'm not t trying to be mean or condescending, but I've had it both ways and treating it seems to work best for me. Take care and what ever you decide I hope you feel better. You can always see another doctor and get another opinion. Maybe they would have a suggestion that makes more sense to you or has fewer side effects.
