Guest guest
Hi group, Been dealing with PA for probably 10 years, been treating for the last 3 years. Seems like I'm getting more and more anemic. Currently I'm on Enbrel 50mg, sulfasalazine 2000 mg and prednisone 5 mg.which I feel great. After doing some research I see RA and PA suffers have anemia complications. My question is anyone treating their anemia if they are a where you have it and treating it what with what?/ drugs or supplements. Thanks for any replies and enjoy the day....Armand
Guest guest
I have been on meds for 5 years. Last three MTX and prednisone at varying dosages. I have never had issues with anemia. Do you have bone marrow suppression? Are you losing blood somehow?...heavy periods, bleeding in the gut? Hope you find some answers. Guest guest
Cheryl, I'm pretty new to this PA stuff but have been trying to learn about foods that help decrease inflammation. I read somewhere that tomatoes are in the nightshade family and actually increase inflammation. Is anyone out there well versed on the effects of diet? Guest guest
Folks that are hypothyroid have a hard time retaining iron and tend to be anemic. > > Has anyone had a problem with anemia. This was one of the first things I noticed was I got really tired about 6 years ago and was low on iron. I donate blood 4 to 5 times a year so we thought that this was what the issue was. Went on iron and stopped donating and things went back to normal. I am now anemic again. Had a colonoscopy with negative results about a year ago. > > Arkansas >
Guest guest
I think I am border line hypothyroid. My T4 is alway at the bottom or below range but my free T3 is OK so my Dr. does not want to treat it. Makes me wonder? Guest guest
Hi Dan You need to have a ferritin level( iron stores) between 70-90 in order for your thyroid to have any chance of working properly. Your t4 should middle of the range. And t3 at the top of the range. Also you should check for celiac disease. I have started an iron supplement again and stopped donating blood. I gave 4 times in 09 and have not donated this year since May. I had an ex-fiancee though that had issues with it for years, and would feel really terrible. She slept about 10 hours a day when it got bad. I know this sounds stupid, but have you ever tried eating liver, or some nice rare steaks?
