Guest guest
To all those asking about this: I have a friend on 20 mg MTX who had bad gum problems, she stopped it for a while and started taking 5 mg folic acid daily 6 days a week (not on MTX day). Before she took 5 mg 2 days a week only. Then it was OK. But check with your doctor first. Also, occasionally I have sore bits on my gums near the edge of teeth, my dentist said that fluoride in ordinary toothpaste aggravates problems, and recommended a toothpaste called Biotene, its a dry mouth toothpaste which is gentler on gums. This made me salivate an awful lot though as its used for dry mouth situations like Sjogrens. Also use a special soft toothbrush. Recently I changed to an electric toothbrush, it a) cleans much better, is much easier on my hands and c) I havent had much problem with gums (they say you can get slight bleeding when you first use an electric toothbrush). regards max
Guest guest
I was also thinking along this same line. If you can definitely connect the problems to actual detox trouble, then consider that your detox pathways are not clear. My journey started with a colon cleanse when I really didn't know what I was doing. I was just starting out. But that, as I have since learned, is a necessary first step. But not the place to stop. We all need cleansing throughout our bodies inside. The more thoroughly clean we are, the easier it is for our bodies to function right. From: ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...>iodine Sent: Wednesday, August 3, 2011 11:48 AMSubject: Re: gum problems Gum problems can be a sign of a messed up gut. I have been using Young Living Thieves Oil products and they seem to be working well. I was having burning gums, red gum lines and receding gum lines. My dentist told me it could be related to candida too. I have not heard of an issue with Iodine. I have taken iodine since 2006 so this is a new thing for me. Buist, ND HC gum problems Hi,whenever I start the iodine protocol I start having detox problems. Usually rosacea, sleep problems, sore gums and eventually abdominal bloating. When I get to the bloating phase I stop the iodine for awhile. I am doing the salt loading and taking all the supplementals, but still having problems, even though I usually only take about 12.5 to 25mg iodine. Am I right in assuming the gum problems are a result of the iodine? I have had problems with my gums most of my adult life and therefore work hard at keeping them healthy. Is there anyway to avoid the gum problems when taking iodine? Thanks,Kathy
Guest guest
I have to add, I have been sick forever and have been on antibiotic after antibiotic - I would like to stop but each time I do I get REALLY ill - but long story short, one of the dreaded antibiotics (Augmentin - which I believe means derived from Satan) caused major colon cleanse (if you get my drift) and I went really heavy on probiotics - Yakult, probiotic yogurt, and some in pill form, and my detox issues have really been better! Before when I would take my Lugol's I would have at least one detox symptom and have to take extra salt daily, but now I'm not having headaches or nausea. So a cleanse and some probiotics could definitely be a way to deal with this. HigginsOn Aug 3, 2011, at 8:58 AM, Lyn K wrote: I was also thinking along this same line. Guest guest
Gum problems can be related to a Vitamin C deficiency. 50:50 ascorbic acid+sodium bicarbonate swished around in the mouth has been reported to assist gum healing and reduce soreness. Increasing oral supplementation of Vitamin C can also be helpful for gums. The iodine protocol recommends 3,000 - 5,000 mg of Vitamin C however individual needs vary greatly. A much higher dose may be best for you & your individual needs and some people use bowel tolerance as their guide. Vitamin C assists the symporters that utilize iodine and so it is possible that as you add or increase iodine your Vitamin C is getting used rapidly (which would support the thought of a much higher dose of vitamin C divided throughout the day). A research article that discusses the role of Vitamin C assisting iodine transport is available at: http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-11/IOD_11.htm The rosacea and abdominal bloating may indicate a presence of pathogens that are being stirred up & killed by iodine. There is literature out there suggesting that rosacea, and many other autoimmune illnesses, are a result of an underlying pathogen infection. Support & improve detox pathways and gut health and continue to dose iodine at a pace that your detox pathways can handle. > > Hi, > whenever I start the iodine protocol I start having detox problems. Guest guest
I have the oral care kit - toothpaste, floss and mouthwash. https://www.youngliving.com/thieves/natural-oral-care If you want to use just the plain oil here is a list of uses http://www.younglivingsuccess.com/2009/02/101-uses-for-thieves-oil.html There is a stopper / plug type of thing in the bottle (name escapes me at the minute) so you can just put one drop on your finger and then massage it into your gums and teeth. Guest guest
Thanks for all the suggestions. When I am on iodine I supplement with vit. C as much as I can tolerate, usually around 3000mg before it starts to cause bowel problems. I will try to find some ascorbic acid to try with the sodium bicarbonate as an oral rinse. The gum problems I have had are way in the past, but the damage done cannot be reversed, so I am very thorough about my oral hygiene to prevent recurrences. I have been taking high potency probiotics since last January when I had a CT scan and the dye really messed up my gut. It is mostly back to normal now, but I have continued to take the probiotics. Bonnie mentioned motility problems with my gut, but I am not sure that is an issue. I have always had regular bowel movements and few bowel issues except when some sort of medical procedure such as the CT scan caused problems. How would you test for something like that? I also take a liver support capsule from my local compounding pharmacy and add lemon to my water to help cleanse my liver. I will have to look into a bowel cleanse, it doesn't sound fun, though. Thanks again for all the suggestions.Kathy
