Amoxicillin and Probenecid

Hi Everyone,

My daughters 10 & 13 had their Lyme checks yesterday. Our doctor wanted to

start them on Amoxicillin and Probenecid. She explained that Probenecid is used

in adults for gout but using it with amoxicillin would increase the blood levels

of amoxicillin without causing the side effects that would come by only using

high doses of amoxicillin.

I wasn't comfortable with this because she has never used this drug on children

and doesn't know of anyone who has but she has had success using it in adults.

I'm just wondering by any chance if any of your children have had this duo of

meds?
