Guest guest
I had index finger surgery for PA, where my index was unbendable, and un-moveable. Some years ago, now. The surgeon, a very good one, was positive about the prospect that he could, with the artificial joint implant, get the index to at least move as a straight finger (but not bend). The surgery was a failure that way. As well as the 3 months of OT that was part of the procedure. The surgery was extremely successful in another way. The surgeon had said to me that a secondary effect of the surgery might be a lessening of the pain in the finger, at the joint. The lack of movement had been a problem, but not insurmountable, I guess you'd say. The pain at the joint, however, was astounding, if I as much as barely grazed my finger against anything. I walked around with trepidation for a long time for fear of banging anything. The result of the surgery was that the pain reduction was primary; no longer did I have that level of fear. The surgeon was crestfallen when he saw the failure of finger movement. I told him: " Take it easy on yourself! What you thought MIGHT be a side benefit has turned out to be enormous for me. If I had had to choose which potential benefit, I'd have chosen what resulted. " I hope he felt better after what I told him. I hope your situation improves. Guest guest
I'm so glad that you shared the info about the finger joint replacement. I am considering joint replacement for my left index finger and my left wrist. I'd love to here from anyone who has had those type of surgeries.
