Guest guest
Thanks to those who commented. Yes, I saw my rheumatologist. The x-rays look pretty good. There does not seem to be any damage. I just have pain, inflammation and edema. I would hesitate to have them injected very often. I am not a glutton for extra PAIN! However the knee he aspirated is much better and whatever he injected it with may help the other one since it was some kinda of steroid, I think. (I am not a good patient, nurses make lousy patients) I am 64 and have been a home health nurse for many years, drive a lot of miles and get in & out of the car many times a day. I think that it is just too much for me at this point. My family Dr. has advised me to apply for disability but I hate to do that. I am on short term disability right now and I don't have to suffer with the pain of in & out of the car all day right now. I tried exercising and I've tried rest. Rest helps with the pain 'right now' but I'm anxious as to how that will be in the future. I do what house work I have to do and let the rest go. I have not tried the Tramadol for pain yet but I think that I've used it in the past with little results. Once the prednisone kicks in that also helps for a few days. Oh, well, as they say......life is tough but then: compared to what? I miss those days of golf, tennis, soft ball, bowling and whatever......and I don't think any of that has caused me all this pain. I enjoyed my days of sports and hope to someday play golf again. Am I wishing for the impossible? Wishing you all a pain free day. Guest guest
Sherry, Water on my knees were the first big symptom of PA I had. That was over 20 yrs ago. I lost count how many times I had my knees drained. Over time it stopped happening and I haven't had my knees drained in years. I also have minimal knee damage. Maybe because I was so young when it was happening? Maybe I outgrew it or the biologics helped, I'm not really sure. Different Dr's can be better about draining. My Rheumy is the best about draining my knees, very little pain and make sure they numb you up well before they drain. Best Wishes, Eileen
