Guest guest
The skin sensitivity, I think, is actually a symptom of Lyme. Especially in children, the nerves are affected and they are very sensitive to touch and also sound. They usually do not like loud noises or sometimes any noise at all. Or, it could be a side effect or allergy of the Flagyl itself or a pain killer if he's on one. Ask your doctor. It is great that most of his symptoms are gone!!! Yea! All the emotional issues are definitely herx's. Sounds like the treatment is working good. Hang in there, when his emotional symptoms subside you are on the back stretch. Don't think of this as bad, think that he is being cured and it will end and you will be so glad that you found out what was wrong and treated it properly!!! It's the only way for a cure and a normal life for your little one. If he's having real panic attacks you should call and tell your doctor. Just in case there could be a physical reason like adrenal problems. But more than likely it is herxing or Lyme symptoms. My child had a little bit of this emotional crisis and we had to change the way he was corrected for anything he might do or say. My advise is to take a very low key approach to discipline. Talk in a normal voice when you have to correct a behavior. Ignore annoying behavior that they just want a reaction out of and it will usually stop. Otherwise, he would flip out and it wasn't worth it. Pick your battles carefully and never yell or show that you are upset. That makes them more upset and sometimes feel ultra guilty and self punish. Also, try to make life as low stress as possible so not to have situations arise that are not necessary. Guest guest
Definitely herx -- like Lyme itself, Herx can come in many forms. Dr H gives us PsyStabil drops to take and they help.  So sorry he's goig through this. Taking actual mood stabilizers can help too -- my daughter takes Seroquel and Cymbalta for the many neuropsych symptoms, which definitely gt worse when she is herxing.  So sorry --  Natasha From: jchabot <jchabot@...> Subject: [ ] qusion about herx Date: Thursday, April 15, 2010, 5:02 AM  I was wondering if a herx has to contain physical symptoms.  My son(age 8) has been doing rather well the past few months.  Most of his physical symptoms from the lyme are gone, except for his head being very sensitive , to the point he cannot have gel in his hair to " stick it up " because it hurts his head.  The doctor gave him flagyl, to be taken only on the weekend( which he just started last weekend) and the past two days have been horrible. He has been tantruming and crying over nothing, having panic attacks.Lots of ocd issues. Saying he is going to run away etc etc He was doing so well and now BAM!!!! Could this be a herx? thanks Judy
